  1. Great news hope the low life that stole it goes to prison!!!
  2. well good luck, nice easy car to work on the MK2 Cortina I'm in the middle of getting mine back on the road just a few more bushes and track rod ends and I should be good, put some pictures up its nice to see what your starting with, and welcome!
  3. Looks great without the bumpers and the wheels suite the car well, very nice motor.
  4. Nice car colour and the wheels set it off, welcome.
  5. Looks nice and solid, my mate just bought an RS2000 SA import rolling shell needs work but its solid.
  6. If your car is valuable I suggest an electronic GPS tag hidden in the car, the way Ford classics are going up in value the more will be a target, at least that way you have a very good chance of getting it back. They are not cheep at around the £200 pound mark to buy and fit and around £150 a year subscription but it then comes down to the risk your car is under, I'm lucky mine is in my garage which is in my house and my area is ok, I sympathise with anyone who has had their car taken by some scum bag but you have to decide how much your car means to you.
  7. welcome to Old School Ford! you have good taste, here's my beauty.
  8. Welcome what a great little car!!! and a famous former owner, he was a great character and the car looks fantastic, thank you for showing it, maybe a few more pictures wouldn't go amiss if you get the time, Good luck, Mark
  9. Hi good luck with the Anglia, nice car post some pictures so we can see what your starting with!
  10. Very nice GT, they seem as rare as hens teeth these days. The thing with old Fords they are tough and easy to keep on the road with good parts supply. If i had more space i would end up with a fleet, i do like the MK1 Capri 3000E it would be my prefrence but any would do.
  11. I found it on classic cars.co.uk, it wasn't coming up in the 1600E section i pressed on similar car before it appeared, the add just said Cortina 1600E £3000 ono, the picture of the car was poor blurred with just the doors showing, i gave him a ring to ask about the car and decided to go see it, as soon as he opened the door on the garage i thought i'm having that, and drove it 300 miles home with no problem. It took me 6 months of looking to find a good one there is a lot of rust and filler out there, i can't see me parting with it, i can't make my mind up what to do with it quite a bit of the paint is original and some say keep it as it is, but its faded and chipped so i would like to paint it again.
  12. Well thats news to me, but explains why the panels are so good all around, I took the front struts out the outher day to change the rubber mounts and the paint was still under them on the inner wing.
  13. Hi Steve, I had a MK3 GT a few years ago now lovely car yellow with tomb stone seats, i have had Fords most of my driving life and the Cortina has always been a favorite of mine from MK1 to MK5 the other ford i did enjoy was a MK1 Fiesta i owned it was just a cracking drive.
  14. Hi Credders, yes it came from Broughton near Brigg Scunthope, the lad who had it was a mechanic working for Toyota, well spotted it was about six years ago i got it so you have a good memory.
  15. Very nice car, it took me 6 months to find my 1600E there is a lot of rubbish out there you were lucky to get such a sound car enjoy it!, MK2 Cortina's seem to be getting thin on the ground these days.
  16. Hi guys just thought i'd post a couple of pics of my car i've had my Tina 6 years and would never part with pride and joy, very much part of the family, its been a while since i posted anything, every panel is original even the wheel arches jacking points doors and carpets, the front and back have been sprayed at some point but the roof and doors are the original aquatic jade paint, cartpets are the original too with sound proofing still in place, its in great shape. 17. Hi Josh, i had a MK1 Fiesta many moons ago and loved it, one very underated Ford, i always wanted a supersport but never was lucky enough. Welcome
  18. Love it mate, one of my all time favourite Fords, MK1 Capri and its a beauty. My 1600E is in good shape but the Capri is stunning, well done. [img][/img]
  19. Hi guys, i'm lucky with restoration i weld for a living and have done for over 30 years now, i cant understand my club i am willing to help anyone with a classic with welding and they seem to think i want something in return, i don't i just love cars and i even offered to use my equipment, the only thing i wanted was for them to be there and help. I will give you some advice, MIG welding is the best to learn, its easy to use and can give good results but dont buy cheap its worth while buying the best you can afford. Good luck with it oh and be sure to get a fire extigusher its very easy to set your car alight.
  20. I love the MK1 Capri but you have a lot of work there friend, good luck!
