They look like the ones i use with my 4 spokes, the fat open end one, wheel falling off ! We laugh about it now! Got the wheel back from in the field! I changed the studs on my mk2 to longer ones when i got it because the orginal ones didnt look long enough, only a couple of theads into the bolt, had a wheel come off my old mk1 because of it, dont know what you have know but might be worth thinking about doing both at the same time ?

I stuck mine onto a piece of perspex, like you say it came of pretty crap had a few ripples and bubbles but went over it a few times with a pin and squidger thing and got alot but not all out, i thought it was just me being hamfisted?
