Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 *WARNING - Bit of a rant here* I woke up this morning all happy and then the postman came. I recieved a letter from a debt collection agency who are chasing a fine on behalf of the DVLA. Apparently, I should have had several letters prior to this one informing me of said fine, but I havn't. I wonder why??? Perhaps it is because the DVLA have got my address wrong If it wasn't for the fact we now have a half sensible postman, I wouldn't have got this one! It took a while to realise that the reg no. in question refers to a Racing Scooter which I bought just over a year ago for parts, and then promptly scrapped. (Which I did I may add) O.k, I rang the debt collectors and was spoken to as though I was ******* guilty, and they suggested I contact the DVLA about this. So, I called the DVLA to see what was going on, I havn't had a Log Book for this vehicle or any tax reminders since I bought it. Now, I didn't let on about the address because I knew they would ask, which they did, and they said that is why I havn't recieved anything. Get this though, I still had to cough up the £80 fine I am not happy about it, and I am not desputing that I owned the vehicle, but I do know my own address and I know how to fill out Log Books. It is quite obviously their fault, but I still have to pay! What's that all about????? The thing that annoys me most is that I have been saving some dosh so I could re-build the new engine for my Anglia, so now I will have to borrow some off my Papa Smurf I suppose it could have been worse, lets just say, if I hadn't have received this letter, the first I would have known about it would be the Bayliffs knocking my door down. I just wish the DVLA could sort their ******* lives out, this isn't the first time I have been shafted due to their **** up's O.k, if you are still with us, thanks for reading, my rant is over - Jim

Still, as I say, it could have been worse, at least they are off my back. My sister is having probs as well, she has had her identity stolen, and the bank refuse to give her money back because they are saying that a card was presented at the time of purchase. Talk about being guilty till proved innocent. Still, she is a legal person, so I hope it will be sorted. There is no way I want to get into an argument with her, it will only have one outcome.... Guy fill out log book, then drives away in our ex-car..... I post V5.... <<<5 months later>>> We get a letter telling us we owe 347 quid because our car was involved in an un-insured collision. Cmpod83 gets angry....phones DVLA. The car was registered to the new keeper. So why the FOOK are we being fined..... The explination? "Oh, our system hasn't updated the information we distribute to third parties" Fooking check it then instead of assuming. Fookwits. I'm with you all the way Jimbob.
flyingbanana Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 they are a bunch of robbing swank**s i had similar ....i had my car sorn then the day i stuck it back on the road i went to the tax office to get the tax and for them to say i needed a form that i didnt recive from dvla so went home to get another bit of paper they wanted....got back to find a nice yellow ....untaxed sticker on it...i had to pay from mem £280 for the time it was off the road plus my year tax

Mr.Sumo Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 Had the same sh*te myself Chris Sold a 7 series to a dealer , filled in the relevent log book etc , he filled in his bit ( company name etc etc ...) ...5 months later got an £80 fine through the post ! Rang DVLA ...told them what happened to the car etc etc .....after 10 minutes of argueing with the fookin twat on the phone ....HE came to the conclusion he had more chance of getting a w*nk off the Pope than gettng £80 out of me !!!! There endeth the story....never paid and never heard a thing since . By the way...just got a SORN reminder for the Granny from DVLA.......I TAXED IT 2 MONTHS AGO !!!!!!!!!!! RANT OVER
