Twinkle Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 squirt or mega jolt? whats the difference and is it easy to fit and set up? what would you guys recommend for a zetec? cheers
Fiesta Steve Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 Squirt for fuel, jolt for spark (I think?)
Twinkle Posted March 30, 2007 Author Report Posted March 30, 2007 that clears one thing up then its the jolt i need
Mr Sam Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 i know the volvo boys have been using squirt for years now and works wonders,,,,,,,,,,do you have a laptop
emu Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 Your gonna need a bloody long extension lead for your PC then!!!
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 I've got the squirt. You can get it to run just the spark. You just ignore the fuel map. You can get a cheap lappy of ebay. It doesn't need a high spec one, just one with a good battery and serial port instead of USB. (more reliable when talking to the squirt)
Twinkle Posted March 30, 2007 Author Report Posted March 30, 2007 will i need the squirt then as i am gonna be runni9ng twin 45 dellortos?
Mark2Mark Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 No mate you just need the Jolt for the spark, maybe worth getting the squirt though in case you want to run throttle bodies one day?
Twinkle Posted March 30, 2007 Author Report Posted March 30, 2007 probably just keep it as carbs tobe honest cant really afford the throttle bodies
Mark2Mark Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 Fair enough mate , but i bought my GSXR750 bodies on an ST170 manifold all the injectors etc for £220 delivered from a guy on here! Bargain
Twinkle Posted March 30, 2007 Author Report Posted March 30, 2007 thats a good price but then you gotta have the electrickery to go with it
Mark2Mark Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 True, but you will need some electrickery any way even if you run carbs. I don't know the price difference between megajolt and megasquirt, but making more power using less fuel will in time make up for the initial cost. Speak to RChambers on here he did it on a very tight budget
Twinkle Posted March 30, 2007 Author Report Posted March 30, 2007 just looking on ebay its £400 for the megasquirt compared to just £90 for the megajolt
Mark2Mark Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 Bloody hell thats quite a bit of a difference stick with the carbs! BAAAARRRRRPPPP BAAAARRRRRPPPP The managment i want is going to cost me £600 so i'd best get saving
Twinkle Posted March 30, 2007 Author Report Posted March 30, 2007 thats why i was hoping i wouldnt need the swuirt as well as the jolt
escortmad79 Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 squirt or mega jolt? whats the difference and is it easy to fit and set up? what would you guys recommend for a zetec? cheers Squirter everytime! Oops wrong room!!
Mk 1 Mark Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 For both Ignition / spark and fuel the best option for a Zetec is either Omex DTA MBE Easy to map,Plot,And set up runs both and parts are readily available from loads of outlets across the country Using Omex on my Cortina
alladdin Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 my m/squirt v3 kit cost me 190 diy build. dont think its more than 300 built and mapped tho. contact bill sherviton for a price, via bills bedroom on msefi.com and the t/b setup on my avatar was less than 150, but its down to what you can do / who you know with a lathe.
