andrewg1323 Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Just taken out my third insurance policy so i can pickup a new capri tomorrow Makes me laugh when dealing with insurance companys Why is it on anything clssic its still chepaer to take out another policy each time i get a car not using my no claims than it is to transfer my main policy complete with no claims to my new car! By the time i faff about with admin fees etc. its just totally not worth it! Soo at present i've got insured 1.6 Capri @ £277 a year 1.6 MK3 escort (with 1 years NCB on policy) @ £442 a year And just insured 2.0 Capri @ £312 a year Madness i tell ya!
james p Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 its mad i can isure 2 escorts wit 0 ncb for less than a standard ka with 2 years lol
X-pack-Glyn Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Well, it doesnt make me laugh, not one bit. unless you go through a specialist, the main ones are a bunch of King idiots. my car was rendered un insurable as it had alloys on, even though they were capri alloys. they wanted 2 litre spec brakes fitted to the front, even though two litre frontbrakes are identical to 1600 ones, i even had to get an engineers report tro say this work had been carried out. im with heritige now, and its nice to talk to someone on the phone that knows the difference between a carb and a seat.

Have you tried Footman James? They are quite good with this shit.
Wez50 Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Have you tried Footman James? They are quite good with this shit. Be aware that Footman James seem to be bungling fools!!!!! I got a really good quote in the middle of march (see post in recomended insurance companies). 3 days later no forms had turned up. I sent an email requesting the forms. Another 3 days no forms or reply to my email, so ring up and send a disgruntled email, they swear that they sent the forms, never had a reply to that email either. Another week goes by and still no forms. Ring up again, promised new forms will be sent. Finally 4 days later I get the forms. Fill in the forms, send by first class post thursday 12th April. Rang up today, Friday 20th April, as I had heard nothing from them. They told me that they had never received any forms from me. "Of course new forms will be sent out first class" I have been told. And so it starts again!!!!!!! I am back to where I started over a month ago. Has anyone else had this much trouble or am I just unlucky???
Noodles Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Footman James are shite!!!! I spoke to them they would'nt even run a quote their answer was "At a guess I suppose £2000-£3000" I got A quote from HIC the other day much better. Classic insurance upto 4000 miles a year thats 77 a week if I go over its up to 7500 a year but I would have to pay more excess, glass replacement and cover for non-competitive tarck day use all for £300 and thats with no NCB

Has anyone else had this much trouble or am I just unlucky??? no mate this is just the norm with insurance companies . ive sent at least three sets of forms off after being told everything would be ok after the first set where handed in . they are quick enough to take your money but when anything goes wrong they are bungling fools . everyone in there call centre had different views on what to do next . best thing to do is take a name of one person and try to speak to them everytime . log the dates and times too .
OllieC Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Adrian flux not only beat everyone elses quote on my daily driver capri but they were also efficient and a 'pleasure' (relitively) to deal with hmm, i should get a job in sales.

Years ago I bought a Austin Ambassador which should have been a 2.0, but had been fitted with a 1.7 engine... my insurance company needed a letter from a garage saying the swap had been done properly... even though both engines are identical externaly... Whe I was ringing round for quotes for the Anglia, one company (a specialist with a full page ad in 'Classic Ford') asked me my age and what I'd been quoted, then said they couldn't match it, without asking for any details of the car... ... they then put me through to another company who had no idea what a 100E Anglia was... alarm bell started ringing when the chap asked me the reg No, and said "Isn't there a letter before the numbers?"...

negri Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 still waiting on them getting back to me . only been 6 weeks . if you need to claim , send in all your documents straight away . i was told on the phone this wouldnt be necessary , obviously a stalling tactic cause ive been told by letter that i need to send everything in . hopefully they have everything in hand now and we can proceed
Capripete Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 I'm with Flux at the mo but will probably change, they don't seem to be quite on the ball with getting things sorted out. Discovered halfway through the policy my agreed value wasnt arranged!
