Rick Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 did the mk1 escort ever come with opening rear quarters. i have 3 holes, one in the far bottom corner (like fastener) and 2 on each of the front corners (like hinge mountings) wierd, iv never seen any and id imagine youd need a special window rubber heres a pic but u can barely see the hole
bomber1 Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 ive seen 1 or 2 with the opening rear windows. dont know if u could get them like it from the factory. but they didnt look right/tidy to me. each to there own and all that!
V8ian Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 Saw one on sunday, orange RS2000, evidently there were 2 types as well, The catch is different, german type, which bolts thru the glass, and the english which is glued on and falls off. Check out the orange Mk1 RS2 shown on the whitewebs pics, http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... hp?t=43295 if you look carefully you can just see the german style catch on the window, pic no 17 I think.
Rick Posted April 30, 2007 Author Report Posted April 30, 2007 i see. hmmm an intersting mod. was it not a standard feature?
bomber1 Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 thinking about it a guy that owns a local bodyshop has had his mk1 in storage for years and last time he went to see it the windows had fallen off cos the glue had come away tho the windows werent broken just laying on the floor
styut Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 An option which cost a whopping £9.88 in 1974 :
Richierich Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 Mine used to have opening rear quarters (1300E). Its was my uncles before mine and apparently the windows used to drop out on the road! not sure how they never smashed! And yeah they are the English glue on type which must have come unstuck. As for rubbers I don't think they are available anymore. Mines got some random bit of seal on one side and the other side has some sort of sealent holding it in! Was actually thinking about this earlier then this thread came up!
