Lots of other stands seems to have cover...............

My apologies Marty ..... your comment above led me to believe that you had some idea of who was covered and who was not covered!

I think your find that your car is covered in a public place unless, stated on a sign that says 'that your car is left at own risk'

My point was that it even if there was a warning sign it wouldn't stop you from parking in the Tesco's car park or a pub car park where your car is far more likely to get damaged

Doubt il be the only one thinking that if i put my car on the stand and it got damaged i wouldn't be covered!

No different to parking in any public place ... you wouldn't be covered in the supermarket car park or a pub car park or anywhere else that is public but you still go there. You seem to know a lot about the other stands insurance so perhaps you could ask on our behalf who they use as I don't know what other stands will be there

We are looking into it in any case and will let everyone know what the outcome is.

I think it's a fairly common misconception that places like supermarkets carparks invalidate insurance.

I had someone hit me in a supermarket car park once he initially refused to cough up any of his details then said there was no point I'd not get anywhere as it doesn't count as the public highway blah blah.

I replied "Oh really? So if I now run you over break your legs and cripple you for life, you'll have no claim on me then?"

Needless to say and to cut a long story short I made a full insurance recovery from hime for the damage to my car and my uninsured losses.

Yes, public liability only covers members of the public against injury whilst on the stand.

So no cover for cars i m afraid, but its the same for everyone who attends a show.

So are old Skool Ford getting public liability insurance yes or no ?

I for one would rather pay a bit extra to know if somthing dose go tits up me and my loved ones will be coverd

It was an unknown issue! Nobody was told that we were covered as we was trading on site!

Plus the OSF stand last year had 30 cars max, this year its over 100! Therefore more risk!

Im not having a Dig but its an important issue IMO but what does that matter, if i hadn't of pulled the topic back up maybe everyone would of fogotten about it by burying their heads in the sand? :(

Id happily pay more to park same as Ratman! You know nobody would expect you to pay for it Darren!

Its not the club's mate unless their selling something, which makes them a trader, all you have to do is not sell the mechandise on the stand!

UPDATE !

James Forrester - Classic Ford Show Organiser

We have spoken today

Entry form is printed wrong it should not have said exhibitors !

Insurance Section is for Traders ONLY

BUT

Any damage to your display cars is NOT the liability of the show organisers

Also no selling/trading is allowed on any Exhibitor stand because if you do then you become a trader and need PLI

Hope this is clear

See you all on the night before on the campsite @ the Pod

Did you not read this bit m8, before getting all stressed and wanting to sell your arse! :P

The cost for PL (only got one quote so far) is:

For up to 10,000 visitors:

£500.00 for up to £1m cover

£550.00 for up to £2m cover

£600.00 for up to £5m cover

If we wish to avoid this and be covered for PL by the show organisers then we won't sell any merchandise on the stand, however, people can pre-order merchandise, pay for it in advance and collect it on the day if they wish.

Doubt il be the only one thinking that if i put my car on the stand and it got damaged i wouldn't be covered!

Lots of other stands seems to have cover...............

Please note that any damage to your car WILL NOT be covered by PL insurance so you can now decide if you want to be on the stand or not Martin! I, for one am prepared to take the risk ... if I worried about that all the time, I wouldn't park anywhere public ever  and the car is much safer on the stand than in the main car park.

If people are unhappy about this arrangement then you should seek advice from your own insurance company and get your own personal insurance cover

Martin, maybe you could ask one of those "other stands that seem to have cover" that you know about for your own insurance and your own peace of mind

We don't want anyone to be unclear of the cover that is provided by the Show Organisers
