ekjim Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 my 105e anglia with nissan 200 engine and box last year did 13.8 104mph at crail with 215 rwhp'. over the winter, i've fitted a t34 from an escort cossie, bigger injectors and afm. it feels more powerful but i'm loosing first gear just after launch, second not much better with traction loss still in second. i've got 3.77 diff original leafs with milton gaz telescopic shocks backed right off. i've adapted mk1 escort anti tramp bars to the bottom of the axle locating beside the front sping mount. the car squats no problem, just think it might do this too easy as there's a deep mark where the diff flange is hitting the tunnel. this distance is 3 inches. my terminal speed is up to 108mph but et is a best 14.3!!! i'm going to fit a 3.54 this week. can anyone give me some suggestions, i don't really want to go 4 link for now, but i'm sure steve greens old mk1 cortina used to run leaf springs and ladder bars. has anyone else found this problem with turbo cars? i owe my car a better time slip!!!!! HELP
Guest M.Bird DOHC Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 why not run a adjustable boost controller so the turbo dont come in till your rolling? Or look into the 4 link setup that miltons developed!?? Do you run a Limited slip diff?
ekjim Posted May 7, 2007 Author Report Posted May 7, 2007 Not got an lsd yet but a manual boost controller could be a good idea Thanks jim
V8ian Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Not got an lsd yet but a manual boost controller could be a good idea Thanks jim Think half of your problem you have worked out yourself, NO LSD, what tires and size are you using
Doc Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 I think he runs the car with 15" ST alloys mondeo . Looks the dogs .
V8ian Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 If thats the case, and I seem to remember the wheels, you may well be better swapping the 15s for 14s or even 13s with the same rolling dia. and use the profile of the tire to work for you under launch, large low profile tires generally do not work well under accelleration, but use tires that have some sidewall deflection will allow the tire footprint to "squish" on the track and give more grip. especially if you play with the tire pressures, The main advantage of the low profiles is in their ability to allow the car to corner much better. do you carry a spare diff and half shaft in the boot???
ekjim Posted May 8, 2007 Author Report Posted May 8, 2007 my rims are 16 inch st 24 mondeo with 205 45 toyo proxy t1s tyres i plan to fit 15 inch mondeo steels with a bit of side wall i also give into the fact that 40 year old buggy springs wont do so i plan to fit coilover s and a ladder bar set up with a panhard rod has anyone got iny info or pics using this set up thenks for the replys
V8ian Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Leaf springs are not the end of the world, I have managed 1.66 60fts on leafs, admitedly a well located leaf sprung axle, but if can be made to work.
