I fitted single leaf van springs to my MK2 Escort a few years ago. It will jack up the arse of your car and deffo make things a bit hard and skippy on your handling.

mmm will have to see then, might be ok with blocks though

seems strange that the only bit you picked up on was the ride height, not the fact that it will handle like a shopping trolly .

Does anybody know the poundage of Mk1 Capri single leafs? I'm after picking up a pair and was thinking about fitting it the marky1?

Don't think the Mk1 was ever available with single leafs BUT you can fit 2.8i MK3 single leafs like I done. Get yourself a set of polybushes to go with it. Certainly makes the back of mine more predictable. If your feeling really flash with the cash get an axle location kit from Caprisport as well!

I'm guessing they'd be super stiff for carrying weight in the back of a van. Probably overkill for a road car with little weight.

nah mate mk2 rs are multi leaf, maybe mk1s are single leafs

Yup. Mk1 escort and 2.8 capri ones are narrower and you have to machine the ends of mk2 ones to fit on capris.

I think anyway, sure someone knows better

just stick to the known - 2.8i springs fot Mk1 capris - fact

Don't grind springs down. This will soften the metal unless you re-temper them and could lead to premature failure.

all mk2 rs 2000s had multi leaf springs standard. get the van springs decambered save putting shitty tramp blocks in
