Rick Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 thought we shud start a thread for photoshop tips my first tip is: when cutting n pasting an image onto a different background, you can avoid the 'stuck on' look by using a 1px feathering. it gives the edges that less defined look, as they would if taken with a real camera
Arched Escy Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Blur the edges of thinted windows, makes em look better. Always crop images after slammin
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Use Flickr.com to find pictures of doner cars to graft onto yours.
over_head_cam Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Top tip 1: Take your time Top tip 2: Save your pic after every action. If you're not sure if the combination of mods is going to work, save it under a new filename so you can come back to it if everything goes pear shaped. Top tip 3: zoom into your pic before you use lasso select, you will get a more accurate cut that way. And save the bit you've cut out so you can use it again if you need to
Jimsiss Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Make use of layers as much as possible, I like to duplicate layer if I want to try something and then if it doesn't work I can just delete that layer and be straight back where I was use the transformation tools to tweek images such as wheels to make them look right eg skew, perspective etc use the colour tweeking / hue and saturation controls to adjust added in pieces to look right oh...nearly forgot, it's the little details and changes that makes the difference between a good 'shop and a bad one
Arched Escy Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Make good use of the blending options when using text.
young un Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 Practise - i tought myself and now i can do everything i want to do with a few esseptions
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 The best way to change the colour: 1. Copy the layer which contains the car 2. Use your preferred method of removing the background, glass, bumpers etc from the layer so only the metal is left. 3. Desaturate the layer so it turns grey. 4. Use the 'variations' option (image->adjustments->variations) to adjust the colours until you reach the shade you want. Make your car look like it's got clear lenses. Select the indicator using the lasso, then image->adjustments->desaturate. Simple
Jimsiss Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 Wide/flared arches (not forest/bubble arches etc just flared out slightly) 1) select the lip of the arch and copy it to a new layer above the old one. 2) position the arch lip so it is slightly lower ,and if the car is on an angle, to the side slightly 3) select the layer below and use the smudge tool to carefully "pull" the arch out to the lip 4) blur the edges slightly to make it look real 5) fill in any gaps between the wheel and arch black 6) merge the 2 layers together and it'll then be ready to go (this makes it easier to change the colour of the car as it'll all change at once) From this: to this:
Rick Posted May 30, 2007 Author Report Posted May 30, 2007 window tinting tip: when tinting windows remember to tint the ones on the other side of the vehicle so that it appears darker where your looking through two panes of glass looks a bit more real
Guest c0rktina Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 when putting wheels on that are at wrong angle. you can get a tyre pic and put a tyre round the wheel make it look better or even create your own tyre

atomic-cortina Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 top tip: don't use mspaint, it looks pants I wouldn't always go with that, I don't have photoshop but I have done simple stuff with Paint and if you use it carefully you can get stuff to look OK. I turned this: Into This: And this: And I made the logo and flyers for my site all on paint: I made my dad's signature on paint. The Woody is made from a blue 4 door, I turned it into an estate, added the wood, lowered it, changed the wheels, added roof rack etc. I made the Grey MK1 from a green 2 door Cartoon that I found in someone elses sig, turned it grey, lowered it, changed the wheels, etc. OK, I may have mixed and matched from other peoples sigs a bit but I put it all together on mspaint. Made this aswell: I know that for more serious stuff and better quality you need photoshop but some simple things can be done on paint OK
