I would say 95% of the people who use this site are hands on people, and have the want and ability to make and fit things where needed, if a company has aproached OSF about wanting to make things for our cars, I would think partial universal kits for strut braces may be a way to go, the PCD of the top mounts is nearly all 2 sizes other than the anglias and early ZZs, perhaps make Top rings, angled brackets so take rose joints, a length of tube with 2 insets to weld in , and sell it as a cut and fit kit,

That is a great idea. Most of us probably have welders and if you can buy a kit for a fraction of the price of a built one I'm sure most people would go for it.

What sort of thing would you like for the MkI Cortina ?

ive considerd a straight strut brace but i need how it drives when its finished as the front end has been seem welded and ill be running coilovers so i dont want the front end too stiff

Milton do a very nice strut brace for the MkI Cortina and its not a fortune either.

I think you two need to take a bit of a reality check.

You just have to look at the sort of 'technical/how to' questions that get asked on here to know that the vast majority dont have the knowledge, ability or access to tools to do even some of the most basic of jobs.

Try running a poll and see how many have welders and who can actually weld...

I dont mean Pigeon Plop either, I mean a proper weld.

I think you will find very few.

Lets face it, who would want to lift their bonnet to reveal their nice new strut brace, thats right in your face, thats been all plopped together and hand painted with hammerite ? and then proudly tell the world they'd done it themselves to save £30 :?:?:?

Most people want solutions to problems, they want to buy something that has all the parts in the box to do the job and instructions on how to do it.

The company that Gary at Retro mentioned earlier does well because they are cheap, no other reason other than they are cheap, so people are prepared to chop and bash things about. There is also a well know exhaust supplier who operates the same sort of policy, its cheap so you have to knock it about a bit to get it to fit.

But it doesnt have to be that way, it takes as much time to do a shit job as it takes to do a good one.

When we supply something everything is there to do the job, same as Miltons. When we supply an exhaust manifold you get the manifold, a gasket, a set of cap head bolts, an adaptor tube and if its pre-crossflow you get a ball end hex driver to do the cap heads up because thats what you need to get under the carbs.

With our alternator kit, everything is there, bolts, belt the lot

With out heater vent covers we supply stainless button head bolts and we even supply the allen key to do them up.

This is the sort of things we should be asking suppliers for, proper kits that make things easy because for 95% of the people on here its about driving the car and getting out to meets and shows, for the small minority it will be about the build itself, but for most its the driving and enjoying and the more time on the road the better.

I dont disagree that people dont want and should be entitled to 'Good Value for money' but there is more to value for money than the price.

I think that suits the age old addage of "You get what you pay for" :?
