why are people bidding like crazy for some fairly standard alternatorbracket?

It is not even an rs2000 one, which mounts it a bit lower to clear the brake booster or battery tray

if no reasonably priced bracket appears ill stop being a lazy bastard and buy one from a local breaker. Understand those brackets were fitted to all pinto powered (not just 2.0) cars without power steering so it wont cost more than £5 ish
