Light up BBQ and we're all getting stuck in to some lagers when the phone goes, voice at the other end says "really sorry to break the bad news but your friend Phil has been killed in a car crash in Australia" Well he was a good friend of all of ours, but was closest to another friend (Neil) that was here at the time. We all took it badly, but Neil went off the deep end and ended up getting arrested for being drunk and disorderly at 2am. He spent the night in cells and has to appear in court some time this week. Coppers over reacted big time and sprayed him with so much pepper spray it got us all. He was already on the ground FFS. Long story short, he had a row with the barman after they messed up his drinks order and refused to correct it. The bouncers were called and asked him to leave, they then shoved him so hard as he stepped out of the door that he stumbled and knocked into a doris walking up the street, they both fell over and two green young special constables pounced on him, pepper spray at the ready. Bad night all round really

Some rather sweeping statements there, mate Aggrieved as I am over last nights incident, I'm inclined to agree with Smudger. My partner worked for years as a Special, she had no desire to join the police force full time and did it as a way of making new friends and through a sense of civic duty. Remember they have to go through the same training and have all the powers, responsibilities and anti social inconveniences of a full time officer, but zero pay, zip, not one penny. Think how much more it would cost to fund the police force without them? P.S. Thanks Sumo, it came as a bit of a shock to us, but that's nothing compared to what his young family must be going through having up sticked and emigrated to Oz some 14 months ago.

bmxdave Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 Oh no, dont get me wrong. Im fairly sure a lot of them are absolutely genuine people. Theres a fair few who arent though. Unfortunately about 2 thirds of my experiences with them are bad, a similar figure to police officers. But there has been that third of them who where good honest people. It just makes me think that you cant trust any of them, especially the ones in the story, anyone with a bit of respect wouldve have gone mad on a lad like they did in the story.
