Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Hi all, a mate of mine has got his eye on a Corsair which has got a V4 engine fitted. There is a very strong chance that this engine is dead, so what are the alternatives??? I have said that he should go Pinto, but if I am right in saying, the Corsair will have a steering box fitted, so what can be done with the sump. Either that, or he would like to fit a 2.8 Cologne V6. Either way, it has to be injection, and it has to fit around the steering box. If we say he sticks with the Pinto, how difficult will it be to modify the sump if it does need doing??? Cheers in advance - Jim
lee_capri Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 why not the 3.0l its only a little longer than v4 and i would have fought they would be very little mods to do to make it work, but 2.0 pinto is a good idea as they tune up easy
Admin Vista Posted June 17, 2007 Admin Report Posted June 17, 2007 Why not convert ton Rack and pinion steering while he's at it? Corsairs aren't too dissimilar to mk2 Cortinas are they? It's possible to do that conversion on the Tina so I'm sure it can be done on the Corsair too
lead foot Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 i have done one of these , i put a pinto into my mates corsair , you can keep the steering box if you like and cut the bottom of the sump ,turn it 180degs and weld back on, you have to cut pick up pipe and weld back together , i drilled a hole in the side of the sump to put the d,stick tube into and welded up, cut d stick down to size . made up my own engine mounts , job done!!!
