...... they reproduced say, Mk1 shells as Heritage do for MGs and the like?

There must be a call for this, UK & Aussie rally boys, restorers worldwide?

My kid told me there are whispers of Audi/BMW or whoever owns Ford now of replicating the MK1

I think there has been a thread on this before, but only remember seeing the first post.

Come on Ford/Heritage, sort your life out.

i'm amazed its not been done already the demand would be huge but sort of kills the car off. I Don;t like the MG purely because all most of em seem to be nowadays are odl VIN plates shoved on brand new running gear, dunno why th owners dont just register em on new number plates....

if they were reproduced it would prob b in the same shitty guage steel they use in modern cars now or redesigned in some stupid way to conform to all these safety ratings and such...

if they were made as good as the originals that would be awesome but would defo devalue our old knackers i reckon :-D

to be honest ex pressed steel make most panels you would need to make a new shell anyway. all you gotta do is assemble it :-D and fork out ex-pressed steel money

the killer for this idea is ford them self, unlike mg who like there hertiage ford dont, ford scraped there tooling for the escorts,

remember readin somewhere that the top bods of ford would be happy to never see a mk2 escort again.

i know of at least 1 case that ford uk where goin 2 sue a company because they were makin mk1 fibreglass moulds for complete bodies

I'm with Tim, it's a pipe dream that we will never see. The cost of reproducing all the tooling necessary would make them prohibitively expensive. MG's had the advantage that the tooling still existed.

BUT on the microscopically slim chance they do elect to produce heritage shells, can we have them in Aluminium please
