BudgieV8 Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 Just a few as I was out charity collecting for the Richard Burns Foundation: Mk1 Twincam Mikkola & Mouton & Hertz Quattro's Brookes Manta 400's RS200 Ponds Metro 6R4 Car developed by Colin Mcrae for a new rally series Mk2 Escy on the stage Broadspeed Capper Mustang In the car park Spoke to Russell Brookes just after I took the Manta pics (my hero when I was a kid), & saw Tony Pond in his TRV8 & Markku Martin & Young Wilson. Was like stepping back into the '80's up at the rally stage as the tannoys were relaying Tony Jardines 'words of wisdom' & it was a good 15 min 'yomp' through the forest to get there! Hopefully some more pics tomorrow. Enjoy
SidewaysBird Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 Nice pics I'm going on Sunday, can't wait!
BudgieV8 Posted June 22, 2007 Author Report Posted June 22, 2007 Just a tip if you are going up to the Rally Stage. Get there early, use the Tractor shuttle to go up & walk back down as the hill is a b*gg*r. Also you get to see the MENTAL Bowler Dakar Land Rover off-road course - flat out UP the hill & they go scary fast!
marky4 Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 great pics i went today aswell was a great day out as always did you see paddy hopkirk roll his mini on the rally stage
russ350lc Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 great pics, but i thought Tony Pond died last year
MK II Mark Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 Yes unfortunately Mr Pond was a victim to the big C. I bought a Metro GTA back in the early nineties which was his girlfriends, cue the abuse for driving a shite car, in my defence I was about 18 at the time and didn't know any better besides my mum wouldn't let me buy a MK 2 Mexico as she was told they were to "POKEY". (she was lending me the money)
BudgieV8 Posted June 23, 2007 Author Report Posted June 23, 2007 great pics, but i thought Tony Pond died last year Sorry, tannoys said it was Mr P driving his TRV8 (as it went past me sounding Brilliant!). Didnt know he had gone...
