I do wonder sometimes why these motors aren't snapped up before the bangers/scrappers etc get them. I've spoken to a few banger boys and they all say that people do a lot of "you can't do that" but no-one comes up with the readies to make it worth their while :(

It's a shame to see OSFs mangled, but unless peeps are prepared to cough up, that's the way it will be

banger racing and grassers souldnt be aloud to use old skool fords

:| i've got to dis-agree with you on this one

nothing wrong with raceing old fords the trim etc can be saved and a grotty old shell can be laid to rest tastefully :ykt:

 looks sweat but from my own experinces with banger boys you probley wont be able to buy the whole car unless you pay them stupid money for it, you will get the interiour, lights, glass and stuff like that for less than £30 but if you can get it out off him im intressted ill even buy the old truck if the money is right :thumbsup: good luck

Ive just been down there and its only ever done 7000 miles it was some old boys car that used to be at a nursing home and its sat there for about 10 years. the underneath is fooking mint and why'll i was there he put a bit of fuel in it and new plugs and it started up its got a 16 pinto in it the strut tops are mint as well as the interior  he hasn't got a the log book for it as the people there were glad to see the back of it and its deffo going to be banger ed .

If you really want it, see if he'll take a swap within the next week. If so, trawl around for a less keepable alternative, strip it out and flog any bits, then exchange motors.

He still gets a car to race and saves time on stripdown, and you get a car worth saving :D

I raced a few capris at mildenhall, all rotters & never fit to go back on the road & the gearbox & front brakes from one are now on my escort. I sold any mint fords on & only raced solid jap crap. We where paying £150 for mk2 granadas a few years ago to race as they make £100 scrap now. But any old ford worth saving is well worth saving

That would be a total shame as there arnt many Mk2's left - most people want a Mk1 or a Mk3, the Mk2's seem to get forgotten :(

Unfortunately, in my experience, he wont sell it as there is a twisted kudos in wrecking a saveable car. Maybe if you bid him £500 he may think about it - bearing in mind he probably paid £0-£50 for it as 'the people were glad to see the back of it'.

I'd have it straight away, but being realistic I cant afford £500.....

no doubt i will see this raced somewhere as i travel the country to watch banger racing  seen several mk2 capris raced this year, just makes then that bit rarer

FFS ! You could buy it, clean it up and get it through mot, insure it for a year and still make a profit on it at the end !!!!

This is so stupid ! JUST BUY IT !!!!
