I am not happy with the ride height of my car. When I first got it, it had the original RS struts fitted with cut springs. The ride height was just what i wanted but I thought I would do it properly with some Billies and proper lowering springs. I got some supposed 2" lowering springs but the ride height is too high for my liking.

Here's the car with the RS struts fitted (the springs were cut and welded to the cups) This is more or less the ride height I want.

Do you think I have been stitched up with the 2" lowering springs?

think the car looks perfect tbh

Thanks but I don't like it. It's better in the top pic and in my sig pic. Do you think the springs are too stiff or the wrong height? How long should 2" lowering springs be? Has anyone got some fitted with pics?

tbh its hard to cut springs to a perfect hight, so its likely than more that 2" wer cut off the springs, on the old ones you took off

Hmmm, yours looks similar to mine Antz. So come on everyone with slammmmed motors, have you cut the springs, got coilovers or proper adjustables?

mines standard struts with adjustable GAZ inserts and rally design 2" lowering springs. (de-cambered leafs at the back)

cut springs are dangerous!

Wessie, I am happy with the rear. I doubt it could get any lower  It's the fronts, do I convert the RS struts or the billies or lower the spring cup or what?

Mate, mines got Capri/RS escort legs which lower the car by an inch anyway, AND 2 inch lowering springs from an unknown supplier on ebay.

Cheers mate, looks like your in the same boat as me then, if you look at the second pic down at the top of this thread you can see the arch lip is over the tyre, no gap. That's what I am after

In my sig pics the car is on billies & two inch rally design front springs, the spring cup on the billies are an inch lower than escort ones so in theory my 2" springs lowered the front 3" over standard. I put coilovers on in the end & raised it up because i got fooked off with hitting the exhuast & x-member,& it handles bettter i think sitting up a bit higher at the front

I ve got the same as Leon, 2.8i struts which are an inch lower and with 2ins lowered springs

That is perfick

personally I prefer the front as it is johnny, back in the day we couldn't afford proper suspension we used to lower the back with blocks and leave the front... tail out and headlights spotting planes

To be honest Johnny, its still running on the suspension set up that came with the car when I bought it, so I dont know the spec's

BUT.......... Dont forget, I've running on 175/50/13's!!

That alone dropped the whole car by around 2 inches
