I'm amazed at how much old fords cost now!! It's incredible! When I think back to what I could have bought in the days when I first passed my test it makes me cry (not literally of course). I thought you might be interested in this list (from what I can remember) of Fords that I could have bought and didn't back in the 80's.

I bought my mk2 1300 2 door with t&t for 220 quid, my mk1 rs2000 for 850 (that was quite cheap then though), a mk2 1600 sport for 400....if only i could turn back time.....

In 1987, my oldest sister bought a MK1 Escort with a years tax and MOT for £25, yes £25.

 

She drove it for the year and when the tax and MOT ran out, it was driven to the scrap yard. There was nothing really wrong with it either. Some peeps are restoring cars with worse bodywork than that one had

i scraped my mk2 2 door as it needed a new wing and rear valance - it was way better than my mex im doing now you wouldnt dream of scrapping one in that condition now!

i brought mine for £250 11 years ago...then found out after i could have got it for £60 has i knew some one who knew them

this is the reason i bought my 2door mk1 escort it cost me £750 in march this year and was taxed and tested

 

it has had a shite paint job but it is solid enough
