Doc Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Love it Pete Good work fella and those wheels were the right choice
mossy Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 wow................just wow! What the cost of importing a car?
stephens_xpack Posted July 20, 2007 Report Posted July 20, 2007 Awsome! How fat are those tyres? Top,top car.
peranapete Posted July 21, 2007 Author Report Posted July 21, 2007 Thanks for all the thumbs up, the tires are 225, wheels are 15", the arches were modified slightly to take the wheels. I'm just getting the top loader gearbox rebuilt as it was noisy. I am in the process of registring the car with the DVLA, but I'm having drama's because on all UK type Mk1 the chassis number is in a different place to where the Perana's had there chassis numbers put. The DVLA go to the UK Mk1 capri clubs for information, but there not a lot of good as all they know about is UK Mk1's. I have a friend in Ford's who is going to get me in touch with Ford Heritage, I am going to get something of them to help the cause. I know there are another 3 of these cars in the UK, 2 registered years ago, another just imported, Importing cars 10 years ago and getting them registered was easier than it is now, or maybe its who you get on the day. I will get there in the end, Thanks Peter

peranapete Posted March 19, 2008 Author Report Posted March 19, 2008 Hello, today is a very special day for me as I have eventually received my new registration number from the DVLA, finished the Perana months ago, but had a delay with the DVLA due to not having my South African paperwork in order. Its on a K reg, ordered some historical black plates which should come just after easter, so just so I could give it a rip up the road over easter I went and got some standard plates. This car I found after years of looking online in SA. It took me yonks to get it into the UK, then more months searching Ebay etc for parts. Deliberately did not keep a tally of cost as it would make me cry. Its all done, FREE historical tax disc in the window (bonus) ! Looking forward to take it to a few meets around the SE. Thanks Peter
Copey Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 great news!! stick some pics up when you get the plates on!
Major_Tom Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 That's basically the nicest looking MK1 I've ever seen. Good work!
navigatoroneill Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 that car is fanfuckingtastic! I was just up in Donegal sussing out an escort fabricator that i thought would have a go at the Capri putting it tn those colours. There is no better look. Have a picture of one of the Perana's in this colour on my desktop that i stare at every day. This time next year! Fair play.
