razersedge Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 i no where i can get a rs3100 capri in bits almost a complete car the shell has been sitting in the back of a spray booth for 17 years but it was painted first and covered up the reason it never moved from there the garage sent the engine away to be rebuilt but the company went bust and he lost the engine the gearbox is also missing ?? and so is the duck tail spoiler how much do u think it is worth roughley ? and how hard is it to get an engine for one (wasn't it was a conault v6 not essex ? ) ? and what is it worth complete ? i no there is one on ebay but that is mint
mr 6ix Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 engine was essex bored out +other mods! if its genny rs shell n in good nick still worth loads!
marky4 Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 don't know what it worth but if a proper shell then quite abit as rare if you can afford it get it
razersedge Posted July 22, 2007 Author Report Posted July 22, 2007 its the real deal apparently. and it is still in its genuine colour datona yellow wich is rare apparently. the bloke hasen't seen it for 2 years but apparently it was in very good shape then the bloke is going to try and see it some time this week but he won't say a price so i want to find out what it is worth first
BudgieV8 Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 The key to all of this is the VIN Tags. - if they de-code as the genuine thing, then it could be worth a lot to any UK/Euro collector/re-builder. Check the de-code in various books - I have a book by Jeremy Walton - "The Sporting Fords - Vol 3 - Capri's" which has a good de-code section. Bottom line: No VIN Tags (or stamps onto the bodyshell), no proof of genuine shell history - low Capri money. If you can get a shell number from the VIN tags or stamps,& prove the numbers, then its worth something if you can trace the history. - dont worry about the 'genuine engine' etc - if the shell is the real deal (numbers etc) it will attract lots of interest. - if you can prove the chassis numbers, best to e-bay it UK - Europe - wide if you are looking for the ££££
razersedge Posted July 23, 2007 Author Report Posted July 23, 2007 has got log book and vin tags and as a complete car running with mot

razersedge Posted July 23, 2007 Author Report Posted July 23, 2007 i'll get the reg this week some time misstype by me "with no mot" brain going faster than fingers
peranapete Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 Hello, if the car has'nt got its original engine, it will never make the money that one would if it did, your better off trying to find one thats all in one piece but in need of repair. Peter
razersedge Posted July 23, 2007 Author Report Posted July 23, 2007 i no it will never get silly money but if the shell has been dry for the last 17 years the shell should be solid as a rock and i should be able to track a 3.1 at some point
capriaddict Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 I know someone with a genuine RS3100 engine spare Me
razersedge Posted July 23, 2007 Author Report Posted July 23, 2007 keep talking why does time drag when your waiting for someone to get back to you
capriaddict Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 Make absolutly sure the car is a genuine one, then we talk about my spare engine
razersedge Posted July 24, 2007 Author Report Posted July 24, 2007 spoke to the bloke and it is a genuine rs3100 its had 4 owners from new 51700 miles (how ironic low mileage) he has every mot from new as well as full history including the original bill of sale and it is a local car as well (or was) he has told me all the letters of the reg but can't remember what the no's are but he is going to dig it out for me tomorrow and the best bit is all it is going to cost me is his beer for a night next time we go out
razersedge Posted July 24, 2007 Author Report Posted July 24, 2007 might not be just yet i haven't even seen the car yet and nor has the owner for 2 years it could be a pile or rust on the floor but it does sound promising

I assume the garage in question was" Dartford RS dealers in Kent", do the Reg letters "TKT" or "RKJ" ring any bells? Cheers RScapriman.
