FlashCadillac Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 Right.... bought this carb and manifold of twink (mainly for the manifold) wanted to get spanner happy on it and pull it in bits but my tools are in the car and its raining so i will wait.... but i did pull apart the bits i could without them just a few questions that thing on the bottom right.... what is it and should there be two of them as there was only one in the right hand barrel Why is there 3 springs???? why not just one big one?? and below the rod with the plastic ends in the picture... the bit that looks a little rusty.... should there be a nut on the thread as it seems a little loose the thred that is sticking out of the back of the carb before it meets the manifold.... what is it and what is missing off it??? should the throttle linkage bit be at that angle or is it wonkey??? thanks Guys iv never had one of these before and iv no idea what im doing is it worth sorting this one out or do u buy one that is rady to bolt on???
over_head_cam Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 that thing on the bottom right.... what is it and should there be two of them Venturii I think, and yes, 2 Why is there 3 springs???? why not just one big one?? If one breaks you have back-up and below the rod with the plastic ends in the picture... the bit that looks a little rusty.... should there be a nut on the thread as it seems a little loose the thred that is sticking out of the back of the carb before it meets the manifold.... what is it and what is missing off it??? A locking tab washer and a nut for both ends. That is the butterfly shaft i believe should the throttle linkage bit be at that angle or is it wonkey??? Not sure. Does it work? If not then no it shouldn't ;)
RUSTYPUP Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 1- it is a venturi and yes you need one in each barrel 2- springs- who cares?? If one big one broke then you would have no throttle return. But you have 3 chances??? 3- you could have locknuts on the threaded bar, but when fitted I doubt it would come undone on its own 4- the bit sticking out is the end of the spindle that the butterfly valves mount on. It has a washer and a nut missing. 5- linkage bent? I don't know. What am I? The Oracle or something??
RUSTYPUP Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 Damn. Beaten by a minute. Must type faster!
bomber1 Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 1 its a veture should have 1 per choke 2 if thats the way its set up should be fine but not sure 3thats the buterfly spindle prob could do with a nylock nut on it 4not sure what ur looking at
FlashCadillac Posted July 23, 2007 Author Report Posted July 23, 2007 wow thanks for the multiple responses guys does it work??? well... it open half way ok but then lower point wherer the springs are fastend to hits the plastic bit below it it then forces the white thing to twist and pushes the end fastend to the butterfly shaft away from the carb... so if the but was on there it wouldnt be able to move and the i suppose the carb wouldnt open up i suppose all the bits i need??? are they easy to get?? fairly universal bits or would it be easier to get another carb
Twinkle Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 they are really easy to get m8 as i will post them to you didnt realise they were missing will get some off one of those other carbs in the pile
