Well the seats sold at the show on Sunday within 1hr of me putting them on the woodchips at the front of my Bro's car (might have been handy having them next to such a bright coloured motor)

Also got some bits from Darran at Escort-Tec, right before a HUGE gust of wind turned their gazebos into kites! So now got myself a mint WCXM, and some door straps and bonnet spring, which were just a couple of missing bits. Also picked up a beautifully made 5 speed rose jointed quickshift from G.S.Escorts, so I'm on the way in earnest now.

Ron Harris had also made me a list of the bits I need from him, so going to get on the blower soon and get him to start on the head. Shouldn't be too long until I'm running in a nice 180-190bhp Pinto then  which is going to be the hard bit! Maybe I should buy a rev limiter and set it to 3000rpm to stop me from getting carried away!

Cheers chap, yeah was a great day don't you think? Looking forward to seeing your little feature in the mag

I'll also tap Matt up to get some Alimax gear

Can't wait to get my car to the shows etc, could have brought it Sunday like, but with it not idling at the moment, that would have been a pain in the ass.

Went to Corbeau, and found the right seats for me, just got to part with best part of £600 now

Then just left to get is a new 9 bolt flywheel, Helix clutch kit, and source a 205 block to build the short engine up out of the car, then I'm on my way to more horsepower

Oh, and I also need to send my dizzy off to Aldon to be modified, and have their ignitor kit installed to replace the lumenition on the car, which I think is what might be causing the rough running. :?

Some pics I took last week on my camera which are better quality than the ebay ones.

Feeling a bit frustrated at the moment, just waiting until I can sort bits out for it. Going to call H&H Ignition Solutions tomorrow to talk about their dizzy's

Phoned Corbeau yesterday, my seats are going to be ready beginning of next week  so all I'll need to do then is sort out the weld in seat mounts I bought from the Squires, and get Gary to weld them in for me, then I'll finally have some decent support when I drive the thing!!

Pick up my dizzie and coil from H&H Ignition next thurs too, looking forward to getting that back, I'm hoping it's going to solve my lumpy idle problems, the car was sounding like it just wasn't firing properly before I had it sent away, really fluffy at the exhaust, like it was misfiring? Just couldn't work it out, we'd tried re-balancing the carbs, that didn't make much difference, could be the cam timing. However when taking the dizzie cap off for inspection, my bro noticed that one of the wires had nearly been cut through on the lumenition optical sensor, and that one of the blades on the beam chopper was nearly broken off. He had a lumenition set pack up on him a while back now, and on that occasion wouldn't let him rev the car much past 4000rpm without sounding like it was running anti-lag! So we speculated that it might be due to a similar reason that my car wont idle, and smooths out a little when you give it some beans. Either way, I need the new unit for when I finish my new engine.

So fingers crossed that weekend after next I shall have the car running nicely, and be able to take her out for a PROPER drive! :ykt::thumbsup:

Cheers Ian

Still can't get the bloody thing to idle though, starting to get quite annoying now, I think a trip to Southern Carbs might be in order. I had a brief chat with them this morning about it, and they can't really give me any sort of diagnosis over the phone.

I think I'm going to SORN the car, get some money back from the tax (and put it towards the tune session at southern carbs) and then just start taking it to bits to build the new engine. I want to get the carbs setup properly on this engine first however so i don't have to muck about with the new one.

Finally got to the bottom of the piss poor idle. It was the idle screws. Whoever set them up to begin with wound them in WAY too tight, and broke the tips off in the holes, we got those out, put the screws back in, put it all back together, and hey presto, she idles like a dream! So chuffed.

Onto the next bits now, suspension, and discs/pads.

Fitted the 48's today, got it running ok, however I think the carbs are too big for the current engine really, too much for it, and I also think I need a bigger capacity/pressure fuel pump too as when I give it a thrash, after about 2 mins it starts labouring and not wanting to rev, so slow it back down, let the floats fill again, then it's revving well again. Will have a better look when me and the bro have more time, might just need to wind out the screw on the regulator, or buy a bigger pump.

Went over to Gary tonight at Retro Motorsport too and he welded all my seat mounts in, so got the corbeaus in finally! (pics to follow) They're awesome, and has actually transformed the way the car feels to drive even, which I didn't think would be such a big difference, but I was very wrong. Just need to get the new engine build started now as well as a few other jobs, but it's really coming along nicely now.
