Mk 1 Mark Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 hello peopledoes anyone know or has any on tryed to fit these on a std escy english axel with rear disc conversion will they clear the calipers and not foul the wheel arch any help or advice here would be apreciated thanks My Mate Paul Kent had them on his Mk1 Mexico and it had a disc conversion on it,He had an english axle on his car (White with red mexico decals) And i think he had discs on the rear as well
mk1matt Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 cheers bud think i may get a set they look awesome.
meXEco Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Are these exact copies of the originals-ie. offset, spoke thickness etc. as i'm quite interested in a set too-i have 5 proper Ronals that need a refurb-may sell 'em and get these instead-any feedback on them yet?? John.
mk1matt Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 i spoke to a guy at JMC today he said they were copied from the originals but the ridge in the inner part of the rim by the spokes was a bit smaller in diameter im guessing to maybe give some clearance for calipers. need to get one to try really
johnny_h Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 If they are the ones advertised in Retro ford mag they look like laser alloys. ie: thicker spokes.
mk1matt Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 will give them a ring 2mrow m8 and find out if they no if it will fit with a rear disc conversion thanks for the tip
mk1matt Posted July 31, 2007 Author Report Posted July 31, 2007 have just spoken to a guy called richard @ midland and he said that they will fit with a rear disc conversion and a escort english axel. so im gonna give em ago.
Arched Escy Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 on the last thread about these rims a lot of people had bad words about Midlands Wheels service.
mk1matt Posted July 31, 2007 Author Report Posted July 31, 2007 they sounded pretty helpful on the phone and knocked £25 off when i mention OSF.
Arched Escy Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 they sounded pretty helpful on the phone and knocked £25 off when i mention OSF. i'll try and find the thread now...
Copey Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 ther is a place that re-cons standard wheels, make them look like new, they come take ur old wheels off, put ur tyres on the new rims and takes ur old ones to be re-coned, cant remember where i have seen them tho...
mk1matt Posted July 31, 2007 Author Report Posted July 31, 2007 its the new ones i need though as they have made the inner part of the rim bigger to clear the calipers. or so im lead to beleave. the old RS genuine ford wheels foul the calipers.
Copey Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 aaahhhh i see, not had any experience with newer replicas, sorry
Fiesta Steve Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 If they are the ones advertised in Retro ford mag they look like laser alloys. ie: thicker spokes. They don't look the same to me either
