Ummm sounds great, but for the thickies, (i.e. yours truly) is Bi-monthly every two months or twice a month Or indeed is it a monthly OSF meet for those that swing both ways (in which case I might have to abstain)
Posse Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Nice one PS. Scott your secret is save with us m8
Mrs O/H/C Posted August 10, 2007 Author Report Posted August 10, 2007 you dont need a passport to get into cornwall, but once in its hard to leave hence why we moved here !!!
ilovegrannys Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Have you got a date in mind for this?
fordtina3 Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 i'll be up for it too. bodmin sounds good location. date and time?
Mrs O/H/C Posted August 11, 2007 Author Report Posted August 11, 2007 Hi, in answer to the previous questions, now that bodmin seems to be the favourite for location,i will go out and look for a venue that fits our requirements ie. large car park..fast food outlet. As soon as i have done this i will let you ALL know. P.S THANK YOU TO ALL YOU OSF FOR SUCH AN OVERWHELMING RESPONSE !!!
hellblue Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 The callywith is a brewers fayre & i think sab said its next to asda just of the A30 i will ask her for more info. later.
sab6024 Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 The Callywith is a Brewers Fayre type thingy. Has a large car park and all usual facilities. They usually let the Trials boys finish and sign off there. I shouldn't have thought it would be a problem meeting there. It's by the Asda in Bodmin. Lee if you wanna go and have a look I'll go up with you
Admin Vista Posted August 12, 2007 Admin Report Posted August 12, 2007 How about a get together at the Morval Show in a few weeks time? You'll need to get applications in pretty quickly though http://www.morval-vintage-rally.wanadoo.co.uk/
MR "S" Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 YEH,PUT ME UP FOR THAT MEET/RUN. WHAT OR WHERE EVER,WITHIN REASON... SORRY NOT REPLIED SOONER,NOT LONG BEEN BACK FROM SURREY HAVING A OR TWO...
sab6024 Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 Might have another two pub possibilites for a meeting place One is in Roche and the other in Goonhavern. Roche probably the better bet.
Pudge Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 I'm up for a meet won't have the Capri on the road by then though. Might have to change sab6024's motor instead.....it'll be quicker
Mrs O/H/C Posted August 20, 2007 Author Report Posted August 20, 2007 Hi, ive been making enquiries with the town-clerk at bodmin , i will have to send a letter in asking permission for use of facilities within the bodmin area. Once they have recieved the letter it will be mentioned at the councils next meeting which is on the 6th september....so keep all fingers crossed and those cars shiny !!!!!!
hellblue Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 Lee, nice to see the extent you are going to get this going but whilst its true you need permission to hold such gatherings, the old storey of the chelsea cruise comes to mind ~ "nobody" could do anything about it because their was no one organizing body to blame, people just turned up !! i think its best just to check with the owners of the venue that they dont mind, i may be wrong but most councils dont want gatherings of cars as the plastic crap gatherings have given the whole thing a bad name !!

You're kind of damned if you do ask and damned if you don't. I ran into all sorts of problems with the ones I organised earlier this year, the police moved us on despite having permission to use the venue......... Fair do's were were expecting 30 to 40 cars and got 70 to 80 Then when for the 2nd meet we tried to use the park and ride car park (not in use on a sunday mind) that the police had moved us on to for the first meet, the council said no! Killjoys!!
duchy boy Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 Hi, ive been making enquiries with the town-clerk at bodmin , i will have to send a letter in asking permission for use of facilities within the bodmin area. Once they have recieved the letter it will be mentioned at the councils next meeting which is on the 6th september....so keep all fingers crossed and those cars shiny !!!!!! Most of the Duchy Capri Club are at Crealy on Sept 16th and we have our own Car Run on Sept 30th so those dates are a no no for us.
Mrs O/H/C Posted August 21, 2007 Author Report Posted August 21, 2007 Ok all notes taken on board ! so do i choose a venue and we take the chance that we may be moved on or do i try and get permission ....because the whole point of it is that we have a meet local to all and it grows from there, which wont happen if it gets moved constantly ALL SUGGESTIONS WELCOME AS I AM DETERMINED THAT WE WILL HAVE A OSF MEET IN CORNWALL !!!!
escortmad79 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Approach Bodmin Football Club where the RSOC Cornish group have their regional day & see if they're willing seeing as Bodmin council don't seem helpful
sab6024 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Lee should we try to contact possible venues first? I can think of two venues that the Camel Vale Motor Club use for the start and end of the Bodmin Trials. One is the Callywith that I have already suggested and the other is the Borough Arms also in Bodmin. Maybe you should include these as possible venues in the letter to the council.
