Gibson Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 getting your car linked too the international security register... you can get it done as part of this Supagard package we sell at work which is applied by a valeter and guantees your paintwork for 4 years and seats and stuff makes it easier too wipe off stains and gives u loads of other usefull shit... but the good bit is it etches your windows with a code that means they will have too change all the windows in the vehicle is they wanna sell it. someone look for a full set of glass for an OSF would then look very suspicous and could be followed pretty easily!
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 It is a good idea mate & window etching has been around for many years... but, the trouble is, there are times where you or I may genuinley need a window & we can only find one that has a number plate of another car etched into it. The theif (if he actually wants to sell the vehicle), can just use this as an excuse and the buyer wont think any more of it... : "Yes mate the windows are etched, but that was the plate of my donor vehicle"... sounds plausable. The other thing with these cars is that quite often they are stolen for the parts only. If they sell the car, it will most probably end up in another country like Ireland & questions wont be asked. Funny though, I was thinking today about getting the Anglia's and Capri's glass etched up, but then realised that if they were stolen, they would end up stripped. I actually remember DIY window etching kits that you could buy years ago But, as always, that is merley my oppinion... if you have any links mate, post them up and I will make them a sticky for you
Miller Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 I never really understood etched windows, wouldn't the reg number be easy enough to polish out with the right tools?
Gibson Posted August 15, 2007 Author Report Posted August 15, 2007 not without damaging the window so much it would be obvious i think.... il see if i can find the links it doesnt etch it with the REG it etches it with a code which is then linked too the ISR witha phone number... you phone the number. they will tell you if the car it is linked too is registered stolen or not..
