ratfink Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 Heres my hearse, MK2 Granada SWB coachbuilt by Pollman in Germany. I've replaced the slipping clutch and thanks to my mate Chris replaced the bodged propshaft and transmission crossmember. Just need to unsieze the front brakes and replace a brake pipe for the MOT and then battle the rust!! I would post a picture but it appears i'm not allowed!! I've posted it in my garage section.
lotusless Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 welcome to the site mate, you have to get some more posts on before you can put pics up! what are the plans for the granny?
ratfink Posted August 17, 2007 Author Report Posted August 17, 2007 Cheers I may hot rod it...though it is rare so i'm not sure. I'm going to sort the rust out first and then decide. Can anybody on here decode the chassis number because i'm told it was a 1600 from the factory but i just want to confirm it. I know the Germans had 1600 MK2s but it just seems wierd for a hearse but then its also manual which is also wierd! I think for now i'll just lower the front and paint the steels black and rat around in it
Noodles Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 Just hot rod it theres plenty of old guys in the future that will restore it
ratfink Posted August 17, 2007 Author Report Posted August 17, 2007 Good point!! I think it needs a V8 with a dirty great blower out the bonnet
Mart Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 well at least it might get the coffin to the church without holding up traffic then. only joking no disrespect to hearse drivers or the dead
Copey Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 Good point!! I think it needs a V8 with a dirty great blower out the bonnet oh hell yes!! and flames!! lol

ratfink Posted August 24, 2007 Author Report Posted August 24, 2007 Err yeah.... This is before I got it at a show at Knebworth last year, note the dodgey hubcaps! This is a week after I got it sat on my parents drive....after I did the cobweb pinstripes on the rear glass and hung the shrunken head off the mirror. I'll get some more over the weekend. I want to make a cobweb grill for it soon.
Copey Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 nice!! looks pretty decant!! cobweb grill sounds cool!!
HellRaizer Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Did you say it has a 1600 in it?? That body style (MK2 Granada not hearse) was sold here as an XD Falcon with nothing smaller than a 3.3L 6cyl (and that was the small uncommon engine!)!
Popuptoaster Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Heres my old hearse, 2.8 with straight through pipes made an impresion, was pukka for frightening the general public while drifting sideways at traffic lights.

Yeah the Germans got a 1600cc, the smallest we had in the UK was 2ltr which is what is in it now and its gutless so i dread to think what the 1.6 was like! I want an XA Falcon, but that is like hens teeth in this country!
ratfink Posted August 30, 2007 Author Report Posted August 30, 2007 Cool! Any idea what happened to it? Nice car
Popuptoaster Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 mine should still be around somewhere, it went to a granny fan and was pretty solid.
Daveyboy20 Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Looks spot on! What wheels you thinkin?
mossy Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 theres one round the corner from me! noticed it on the way home the other day....looks like a pikey is living in the back of it judging by the matress and duvet!
