Deano1351 Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 Glad it all worked out bud, looked like a right adventure!
escysean Posted September 30, 2007 Author Report Posted September 30, 2007 Well done mate, what an adventure! What you gonna do with it now you got it home? Yeah, great adventure! My plan to keep it stardard on exterior and make it street sleeper with both fog lights remove, lowered it and put 13" wide steels Engine-wise, am gonna leave it as it is till I get mild hot 1600 x/flow rebuild with 4 speed straight cut gearbox I got in garage with other spares, like RS2000 9" drums axle. escysean Posted September 30, 2007 Author Report Posted September 30, 2007 Thanks everyone for positive comments The car is very solid and mint on inside boot/interior and engine bay, all doors, boot and bonnet are like brand new and guess what, everything worked, even interior light came on when opening door, no door drop at all and the doors/wings got perfect gaps It had a good respray 5 yrs ago but me as fussy tosspot with over 20 years as body panel beater and painter, I want to make it spot on as the bad points was that when having a respray, they didn't remove glasses, door handles and exterior trims, you can see masking tape overspray on it.... Also there is usual small rust spots on n/s/r bottom arch, front valence and on rear panel below rear glass and few dints on roof, but that nothing compare to previous mk1 Escorts I had that need alot of work to do and non-runners!! Here more pics of close up of my mk1 Escort I know the steering wheel is on wrong side, but who's care? The interior light work when opening doors!! LOL That brownish colour is rust proof treatment cover, no sight of rust/rot on wheel well When the last time I see cross-ply tyre on spare?? The engine bay is all solid and sound, just usual surface rust but the paintwork all original My plan for next week are as follow:- Replace exhaust pipe with new one I got with sale of this car included Full service ovehaul on engine/brakes and other sorts Remove seats and rubber carpet to check the condition of floor More pics on underside of car Registered it with DLVA Get it MOT and road tax (excepted) Sean
