Messenjah Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 hi guys i decided i should probably smarten up the front of my car ready for its new engine .. and i took the headlights out today to clean in behind them ... found this do you think it can be fixed in situ ? or will the wing need to come off ? i dont have th emoney for new wings so if it comes off will it go back on ?
Tom Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I think thats part of the wing mate. chop it off and replace it. Do the job properly first time round and then you won't have to do it again
Daveyboy20 Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 You shouldnt need to take the wing off for that just chop it out and get a plate welded in, thats what id do! The wings are annoying coz tghey're welded on not bolted so they're a pain to remove and replace
Conor Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 And when you take the wing off, you usually find half the front panel comes with it, the drip rails are shot and the A posts look horrific. A 10 minute patch job then becomes a weeks long restoration.

True, but it's done for another 10 years then If you dont mind putting in the time, I'd remove the wing (carefully), and make sure the inner wing and a post area is ok
Messenjah Posted September 5, 2007 Author Report Posted September 5, 2007 ALL the interior is out including all the dash and ive had a good stab at the a posts from the inside and i cant make any holes so on with the rust preventing primer and a bit of a spray up and the inner wings dont seem too bad either lol so i think ittl get a quuick patch thanks for the advice guys
antz Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 do it once and do it properly.. cutting corners will bite you in the bum at a later date
Ratters Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I'd get it cut out & take it from there tbh. If you can get away with putting a neat plate on from the headlight side with all the grot cut out then go ahead. Just remember to well protect it from the other side when finsihed
Messenjah Posted September 5, 2007 Author Report Posted September 5, 2007 do it once and do it properly.. cutting corners will bite you in the bum at a later date at a later date the wings will be coming off anyway and new ones fitted but a later date is when i can afford it

Messenjah Posted September 6, 2007 Author Report Posted September 6, 2007 no its not gonna cost me to get the patch done and the WELDING at a later date will only cost me in welding rods but i need to buy the panel if ure with me
beedz Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 had pretty much the same issue with my fezza & it can certainly be done with the wing still on, so quick patch it for now if funds are low
GJUK Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 at a later date the wings will be coming off anyway and new ones fitted but a later date is when i can afford it Very sensible, I wish i did it like that
