ZetecVan 2.0 Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 As it's getting dark early, and the weather is a bit pants, it was suggested that we meet on a weekend during the day so we have more time to look round the cars and sit outside if the weather is fine. I'm still happy to meet up on the last wednesday of the month for a quick pint and chinwag as well (only cos I never get out!) for those of you who are local, and just to keep it regular. So, if we were to meet on a weekend as well, to see some of you more further afield, lets have your suggestions. One suggestion was if there are 'pockets' of OSF owners, all meet up local to you, and then drive in convoy to a central meeting point, and then do something from there. Another suggestion was a convoy up to the lakes one Sunday. So, come on people, lets have YOUR suggestions.
mk1mexico Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 im up for the lakes trip theres some awesome roads. Being a wkend doesnt really make much difference to me because i work shifts therefore my days off arent necessarily a weekend day. But im not the majority so lets hear more suggestions
4parajon Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I think a run up to the lakes is a good idea as a bit of a roadtrip, think the main thing to discuss here is a neutral meeting point as central as possible for everyone who wants to turn up. As its a "Northern Meet" if you look at the map of the UK the area where we have been currently having them is pretty spot on. I know it's not ideal for everyone but that's gonna be a problem no matter where we have it ie you can't please everyone. On a personal note one of the things I like about the current venue is the cracking drive over the pennines and for me that's what owning one of these cars is all about (even though I've yet to turn up in my Capri )and that's driving them. That's a good suggestion (whoever it was) about the "pockets". For instance the lads in Liverpool could meet us in Manchester and then we all drive to meet you over in the pennines, or wherever. Another possibilty is that at the meeting someone offers to "sponsor" the next meet ie Find a suitable venue and make sure the pub name or map is posted up on the forum so everyone can see it, but keep the same agreed day. Unfortunately if were not carefull we could become victims of our own success here as more and more people attend (which is fantastic, dont get me wrong)more and more opinions will be offered and no firm decision will ever be made. Having said all that,my opinion is that I would prefer to keep it where it is, maybe change the Wednesday night to a weekend if agreeable for the "winter", but as said, let's have some more ideas and keep it going.
mk1mexico Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 yeah i agree its just my shifts wont let me come to the meet at the moment but that cant be helped. I say keep the meet as it is and do extra things like runs out at weekends etc. As you say no matter where the meet is it will be unsuitable for some thats just life
capritech Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Anyone going to the Ford day at Blackpool? AS we have the best roads up NORTH I would be up for a road trip!Something like covering Yorkshire to derbyshire then to Manchester then into Lancashire and see if people tag along as we pass through the boarders.
TangoDeltaSierra3 Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Why not meet at the Dog & Partridge on the A628 nr Penistone, drive over to Glossop area then on the A57 Snake Pass to LadyBower area, stop for a drink or a meal in that area, photo shoot etc, then make yer way home.
Slik 50 Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 Anyone going to the Ford day at Blackpool? I live in Morcambe and I'm going to the Blackpool day on the 17th! I'm going to meet up with a couple of others from around preston way just of junction 32 of the M6 joining the M55 then cruising down to the north shore might only be about 5 of us but it's an ideal meeting point for everyone if you all fancy it The pub that we will be meeting at is the called the Phantom Winger circled

Delotus Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 I have re edited this sadly: I was hoping to have a leasurely drive up to Blackpool in the mk1 with the lads. My missus' mother rang last night saying she's coming over to Liverpool Sunday to see HER DAUGHTER ,typicle in it?? A week early for some reason, i haven't found out as yet.To be onest i'm not arced. The only time she's bothered to come over all year is when i'm off to Blackpool looking at some sweet old school Fords. Ironically she lives up near Garstang nowadays.Which is on the way so to speak..well nearly. As i'd better not even think how i'm goin to get out of this bad situation i think i will just stay home and listen to them both blab on... I carn't just leave them to it...can i??? Hope to see you all another time. And you all have a good day. Tim
