Just bought another Mk2 Escort - Dilema Time

I just bought this, the guy had it for years and years and I've pestered him a few times to sell it to me. It's finally costing him too much to keep on the road so he gave me a call. I got it cheap, but I dont really need it.

 

My dilema is this... a few years ago I would have thought nothing of buying a car like this, then spending a few weeks stripping it to a bare shell just for the spare parts. Nowadays I'm not sure I like the idea of killing yet another old escort

 

Thing is, parts are getting well expensive and I have always liked having some incase I need them (as I often do) and my spares are running low now.

 

Or, does anyone want it off me for a project

 

It solid underneath, but the front wing has had it, and the rear arch has more filler than metal, but otherwise it appears to be a reasonable car. It's got marks and small dents everywhere but it is still an MOT'd and Taxed Old Skool Ford.

manual or auto? problem is 4doors just dont sell like 2 doors. i went to escort tec thursday morning. they have a rally style mk2 4door they cant shift. its got all the right bits in it cage buckets spots and they cant get £1300 for it if it was a two door it would have gone for nearly 3times that

The doors seemed to be in very good condition - it has been kept garaged since he has owned it.

 

I dont pick it up for a while so I cant even go and double check or get you more photos.

 

Doors arent bits I want or need so you're more than welcome to them.

But Steve It's got Mot and tax I don't think you should break it. There can't be many spares worth keeping for yourself and loads of people out there would like a 4dr Escort that don't use internet or know about Escort Tec etc. Stick it in the SEOC magazine or free-adds and make a small profit, or drive it throught the winter as an everyday car and put a for sale sign in the window.

 

If you know how much you want let me know by pm if you like, there are several people I know who are looking for a 4dr mk2. I will bring them along to the MK meet and you can auction it.

It doesnt look to bad in the photo - I have one of them special cameras that makes cars look better than they really are. Its a bit of shed to be honest. I'll try and post up a few more photos tomorrow.

Sell it on as a resto project, there's enough of them being scrapped/broken.

 

4 doors are slowly gaining popularity as the price of 2 doors are going up so sell it to someone that will do it up.

 

Good starting base for a youngster, one of the young uns on here might want one
