Conor Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 Why don't you lot just rename the magazine "Classic Escort"? After all, it's basically yet another that appears to be virtually purely Escorts. Yet another issue packed full of Race/Rally wannabee 2 dr Essies. Don't any other classic Fords exist? I swear I saw a good turnout of Anglias, Capris, Consuls and Cortinas at the CF Show at Santa Pod at a far higher percentage than seems to be represented in the magazine. And the standard of technical knowledge about non Escorts is dire. WTF is a 3.0S Capri wing? Is it some kind of wing that's got some magical difference despite strangely looking exactly the same as any other MK 3 Capri wing? I, for one, won't be bothering buying it anymore.
Rick Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 Its a good discussion. I stopped buying mags altogther cuz they were all pretty much the same bar the technical bits, but then again when there wasnt an escort in the mag i was like shit no escorts. i think from the mags point of view they have to show what sells. and escorts do a good job id rather see unique modifications for feature cars, not another run of the mill concourse or rally replica/
Wessie Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 showing escorts = sales which = money
tim Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 showing escorts = sales which = money =pissed off readers who like more than just escorts

aphspeed Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 hi guys. this issue was an escort special, which is why it had a few more escorts than usual in it - which is kinda the point. but it also did have a cortina, capri, anglia(van), fiesta... as for other issues we always have a good mix of car models in there. we do however have a lot of escorts on the cover as they sell issues for us so to continue producing the mag that needs to happen. i can understand the upset if all there was to read was the cover but that isn't the case. do me a favor and look through the last six months and count up the feature cars that aren't escort. you'll be surprised. if you don't read the mag though you won't be able to do that so please don't comment on it. conor. i hear what you're saying about the cf show turnout but the massive majority of classic fords on the scene are escorts and we are being representative. as for a 3.0s wing it's a wing off of a 3.0s i don't think we said it was different from any other mk3 wing did we? copey. as stated we have lots of other non escort models in the mag and have had a few yanks in there this year rick. you don't get more unique than the 105e with an mg turbo motor in we featured last issue. or an s2000=powered mk1 escort. rotory powered 600bhp cortina...
Guest MK1gaz Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 there's always a varied supply of featured cars in classic ford so saying it's only escorts is untrue . They even feature plenty of ropey old motors as well so fare play to them
Rick Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 rick. you don't get more unique than the 105e with an mg turbo motor in we featured last issue. or an s2000=powered mk1 escort. rotory powered 600bhp cortina... and they were great features! just need to find more of them

over_head_cam Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 I enjoyed seeing all the Escorts in the Escort Edition of CF I've always read CF and until recently I have subscribed but funds have not allowed that this year. There are a lot more Escorts everywhere, so proportionately you'd expect to see more in the mag
82bob Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 i buy it every month regardless of whats on the cover, i buy it knowing there will be escorts featured why wouldnt there be they are classic fords after all if i didnt want to read about escorts i wouldnt buy it. simple buy and enjoy

Conor Posted October 1, 2007 Author Report Posted October 1, 2007 conor. i hear what you're saying about the cf show turnout but the massive majority of classic fords on the scene are escorts and we are being representative. I'll spend my money elsewhere then...not a problem. And BTW, as for the "you build it, we'll print it, some of the other model forums have complained about sending piccies and letters in yet getting no reply. I hope you change your views when people wake up and finally stop paying over the odds for any pile of rust with and Escort badge on as they are currently.

Had you been buying the magazine anyway? Regarding the other comment about feature car requests. If a good feature car comes in we will feature it if we haven't got too much in stock already. We print 13 issues a year with only a finite number of pages so as you can appreciate we can't feature everything that comes in to us. This might piss a few people off but that's just the way it is I'm afraid and as Ive already stated if you check the issue's thoroughly then you'll find that all the other major car models (Capri, Anglia, Cortina) are covered in pretty much every issue. And as for your comments about Escorts, we will continue to do our best to represent what is going on in the scene proportionally. So if Escorts are the most popular car out there then they will always be covered more than cars that aren't that popular. I know that people aren't always happy about that, but again, we that's just the way it is as we have to try to keep the majority happy as we'll never keep everyone happy. Do you have something against Escorts then?
