Just for the record, and tying in to another thread I was reading today, in my time at CF, I decided in my wisdom that the MkI Fiesta's time had come and was responsible for putting one on the cover (I forget the issue but it would have been about mid-2004?). The car in question was a stunner, which had had thousands and thousands spent on it, and IMHO deserved a cover issue as much as any Escort. Unfortunately the issue sold about 2000 less than any other that year and I got my arse kicked big time... Not having seen the figures for a while I can't swear it's still true, but I'd also say that ALL the best selling issues I ever did had Escorts on the cover... despite me trying my best to sneak other cars on every now and again. What I'm trying to say is that in the end the customer votes with his/her cash and in the CF world that means Escorts will always dominate the editorial... although I also agree that most other models are covered better than they ever have been in the mag's history (those of you with collections of back issues check it out and tell me I'm not right...) And for those who still think CF are a bunch of Escort elitists go try this... go in to work and tell your boss you are going to change something about your work which means the company will make less money next month... I'd hazard a guess they won't be saying "yeah go ahead"! Can I have a Corsair on the cover for your final issue now Steve? Go on, what are they gonna do? Sack you?

The last issue to have one in was the April issue that's seven months ago. We did feature an NA grp 4 MkII within that time, however I'm assuming you're refering to turbo'd road cars.

Ade B Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 The one change I want to see at CF is the Stretton buying guide brought back! Rotten old sheds were great to use for the buying guides (for both entertainment and educational reasons!)...... was gutted when it went back to being minters!
brettp Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 before every one rushs to ar..e lick the editor i would like to point out i like escorts and cf magazine but even the most die hard classic ford fan must realise that there is always more escorts than any other car and i think that it would be nice to have a bit more variety that said what with the crazy prices that escorts are going for and the fact a lot of people like to have some thing a bit different i recon we will be seeing more old fords being modified like what is all resady happening ie 100e s cortina s which were not done to the same degree as escorts . lets hope so any way

What you need to understand, and this has been pointed out time and time again, is that Escorts are THE MOST POPULAR model of classic Ford out there. The magazine there for needs to represent that. Having said that we are not classic Escort magazine and have great coverage of all the other models in the scene.

Favourite specific feature car would probably be the MkII Cortina fitted with a 13B Wankel from Oz - Rotina from last year. Also loved Gary Tripps MkII BOB 24valver Cortina and Adrian Alderson's MkI Capri Cossie both from this year. You?
