texr2000 Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Alright guys, I am after another/new daily driver, as I want to keep the miles down on my RS and also try and save it from car park marks etc. Was looking into XR2i’s and Escort GTi’s/SI’s etc but come across a MK2 Escort 4 Door 1300 Ghia on ebay only round the corner from me. Bodywork is ok, has bits of rust on the arches etc (gonna look more into the rust) but has a MOT for a good few months and a fresh 6 months tax. It has a few tasty bits on it including 2.8 struts, 13x7 minilites on 17/50’s, quick rack with RS track rod ends, Fully Polly Bushed, -2 with Spax on back and Quaife LSD! Also has a 1600 xflow, 40’s and a new 244 cam to go with it. I did use my Mk1 with the 1300 in as a daily driver when I first passed my test so…. What you think? End of the day I always got a modern car as a back up if there is problems and can use the RS on motorways etc… also a good donor car for my next project…project Cossy 4 door sleeper… Just got to try and work out a price in my head, the price of OSF is so hard to judge these days… Thom

texr2000 Posted October 4, 2007 Author Report Posted October 4, 2007 Well it has ended on ebay but didn’t sale and he has pretty much said it’s mine if I want it… I am looking at it just in parts as well could strip it of its assets and fit the standard bits I got on and sale it for price prob not too far of what I paid. He is after £1500 but of course nearer to £1000 the better for me…£1250 maybe… don’t think he has had much interested and he wants to sale it quite quick. I always insult people with my offer after almost offering £700 more than what I paid for my RS… (Guy said “don’t you normally put it up 10% more than you want for it so if I take off 10% and if you can give me ‘x’ amount by the end off the week we could have a deal?”) Yeah I was thinking about winter use, I passed my test in march and used the Mk1till around this time of year so weren’t to bad. Thought maybe a 2L zetec mite take care of the winter with 5speed

I'm liking my idea of Zetec and 5 speed now, its got to be done for ‘reliability’ issues for the winter Think I'm goin to read up on it cant be that hard... weekends work

As much as I would love another OSF that I will use more and in all weathers there is 'mr sensible' in the back of my mind saying that something a little more modem would be better... gonna pop over and look at it in a hour, if the price is right... and as I said im really liking the idea of a zetec and 5 speed performance, modern, reliability cant go wrong??!!

texr2000 Posted October 6, 2007 Author Report Posted October 6, 2007 Been and looked at the mk2, I'm really not sure what to do... drives ok… Feels a little under powered to what I am use to brakes pull to the right. The arches are rusty and the lower arch and spare wheel well but the other side under the tank has gone. And the N/S seal has been damaged where its was jacked up. I donno if I could use it everyday but I sorta like the idea of a OSF everyday car… not sure if a 2” drop and 175/50’s will work everyday either lol Im just so confused! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=002
