Josh_gsy Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 i broke my car today! we were going to fix a flatty on my mates car, mine died and then then his grandpa picked us up to take us back to COFE and his cam belt snapped!!! Anyway.... any suggestions? I was doing approx 20 mph after going round a corner and it just died! tried restarting it and it sounds like it has no compression and it aint sucking through the carb... so might it be a dropped valve? Cheers Josh
Supercharged Nat Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 could be your cambelt gone too??? if its not sucking in through carb AT ALL then it sounds like the valves arent doing what they should be, or the cranks not turning at all.
Josh_gsy Posted October 8, 2007 Author Report Posted October 8, 2007 its a mk2 cortina 1300 delux so thats a 1300 xflow engine right? oh im also after a 1600 x flow for it aswel if anyone has one in south of england?
Deano1351 Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 Its a timing chain on that engine, couldv snapped i guess, best thing would be to look at the rockers with the oil cap off and get someone to turn the key, if nothing moves then the timing chain has snapped. Someones just posted an engine here.... http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... highlight=
