ANGLIA 105 E SLOT CAR (SCALEXTRIC).

Hi .Here is a scratch built slot car i have made my self .

 

It's a onethirtysecond resin body shell with an adjustable slot car chassis.

 

1/32 scale as per the scalextric size.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Body is made of resin which was full of air holes and took me yonks filling them in with car body filler/stopper before it was ready to paint.

 

Screen is molded clear lexan.

 

The interia is a light weight lexan which also has the drivers body molded into it.

 

The chassis is plastic, which a friend of mine had designed and made ,(he sell slot cars for a living),so you can adjust it to all sizes of different body shells.I made some body support mounts to fix it all together.

 

Front and rear axels are standard scalextric,cut down either side.

 

The car is running mk1 escort scalextric wheels which need a little detailing to finish and worn out slick tyres,which i have since been replaced with brand new ones.

 

I have fitted a genuine 1960's Scalextric racing drivers head to give it a bit of a age related look.

 

I Haven't got round to fitting a motor or guide braids just yet.Or the racing numbers.

 

The choice of motors you can now buy for slot cars is unbelievable but i think i will just use a bog standard motor as other wise it will be like fitting a 600 brake motor in a real one,undrivable!!

 

I tend to make slot cars over the winter so i will get it finished shortly.

 

I painted it yellow like an anglebox i saw at a race meeting at Aintree racecourse a few years ago .This was to commomorate Sterling Moss winning the first British Grand prix win in a british car.At which ,myself and my nephews actually met and shook hands with the genius himself.

 

Sadly i have no pictures of this meeting as all the pictures where stored on my old PC which Blew up last year.!! My nephew has some on his.

Liking that a lot - who moulded the body? I've heard of a company that does resin shells based on old airfix kits (i.e Austin Maxi, Victor Estate, Mk1 Escort) but I cant rememer who it is??

 

I've met Stirling Moss too, at a show back in 2003

Over the years i have dealt with Chris on numorous occasions dealing or selling scalextric with and hes a good guy.

 

 

The resin bodys do require a fair bit of fettling but there imposible to find elsewhere by another manufaturer.So rearly the only alternative.
