That much I figured out with the Ford stamp

However (and you might shatter one of my big misconceptions here), I thought that there were different bellhousings for different types of Ford lumps. One for Pinto, one for x-flow, and so on........Is there just one universal design?

Looks like an rs 2000 one. i have one that looks the same behind my zetec with a t9. Theres one pattern for the 4 cyl engines up to the zetec and another for the 2.8 (not sure about the 3l) and some strange pattern for the duratecs.

Can anyone tell me what kind of engine this T9 bellousing is for?

Very well spotted sir! I actually need it for a 1600 x-flow, so I don't think it'll suit my needs.

Can you educate me Jason. What's the second "starter motor hole" all about on this box? and where would a clutch arm go on this bellhousing?

Even though I'm a way off owning this kind of thing I might as well learn while I'm here.

i dont know if it is a second starter hole or not  but the starter goes in the n/s of the bellhousing then the clutch fork goes in so the outer end is in the o/s of the bellhousing but doesnt stick out off the bellhousing like u expect it to. oh and its a right ###t to fit the clutch cable with the ally housing

Has anyone got a piccy of (or useful info about ) the right kind of bellhousing for 1600 x-flow to type 9 box?

I used that type when I still had the x-flow fitted here it is coming out.

I use an RF hydraulic release on mine but would the sierra fork fit in the rs bellhousing.

The 2 starter positions are handy with the x-flow it was on the drivers side and with the zetec it's now on the other.

Well it's a long way to go before I find myself on the strip. And when it comes to weight saving, I think I need to sort out the driver first :ykt:

Cheers for the input.

as said the starter goes in the ns,the relase arm connect to the cable on the os,when used wit the rs2000 ally sump the cable goes throug the lip on the sump where it bolts onto the bell house
