Cossie transplant cost.

How much would a cossie transplant cost?

 

I'm talking about somebody who can source and fit one into a mk2 Escort estate.

No elaborate modifications, just a reasonably standard engine which has been rebuilt/reconditione. The turbo model from a sapphire or something.

 

Could anybody give me an approx guesstimate to the nearest thousand?

Running gear complete second hand from around £1500

Atlas axle From £350 (Which will need shortening) If none arched as its to long

English axle wont last long.....If you launching the car but will work for a while,And you would want and LSD so thats more money...

 

Gearbox tunnel Auto one from £40 Or if you have a complete donor car use the Sierra tunnel as it will also have the mounting brackets for the gearbox..

 

You can use the Sierra Rad and intercooler but will have to cut and mod front panel and front chassis...

 

You can now buy custom made rad and intercooler to fit from around £500 the pair

 

brakes to stop it...2.8 capri front legs discs and calipers will do the job for a standard engine...

 

And then its just modding the bits to fit,Wire the loom and Modifiy the exhaust to fit....

 

As for getting the bits and doing the work im Sure KevMk2 Or Kev16v or Bigrod can sorce and do the job to a very good standard as they all no there stuff as they have done a few conversions

It cost me (and is still costing me ) £5k and that was with very little fab work required as its almost a straight swap into a 2litre Capri.

If you are going to pay someone to do it I would think you will need at least £6k.

Jon paid around £5500 I think to have his capri fettled. I dont think he has had a problem with it yet and has been very reliable. I know of people that have done it on there drive for very little less and had now end of trouble.

I'm attempting this in my mk1 and so far Ive spent around 3k and still got 1.5-2k to go

That does include engine and box (although don't know how good this is yet) and atlas modded by Fostek. And that's doing it myself, with a little bit (alright a lot ) of help from twinkle

Theres so many differant ways of doing it,all depends on your budget. If you supply all the parts like engine box,axle etc then you will still be looking at around £2-2500 to fit it all in depending on if you want it 5 linked etc,if keeping it on leaf springs it will be slightly cheaper. But if the shell is all ready for the engine and box to go in and all that needs doing is the plumbing work,fuel lines etc etc then i charge around £1500 for that.
