i and lee was talking,and he siad he wouned if he could buy a pinto escort gearbox tunnel for his escort,so were would he get one from

Dont think you could buy one as such. You would have to cut one from a pinto powered shell. I have fitted pintos into mk1 and mk2 escorts and have always modified the tunnel to fit. Its not hard to do just a bit of cutting and dressing here and there

if goin to the effort to weld in a new tunnel then just an after market 1 thats loads bigger

big tunnel from rally design makes a lot neater job off it if u want pics pm me as thats what mines getting at the moment

Rs2000 tunnels are just normal standard escort ones with a few hammer marks . you could use an escort automatic one as they are bigger and fit nice

got a rally design tunnel in mine and it is the best thing i (well me nd ma dad!!) have done!!! loadsa room to take out the box and put it back in too without dropping the crossmember!!

or go n chop a tunnel out of a sierra will have all the monts in the right place as well

buy An auto tunnel from escort tec they fit really well thats wot ive fitted to a few escorts never had a problem

i have always found that a scissor jack works well to make a standard tunnel the same size as an auto one

well lee chopped his tunnel out cause he needs more room than what a standed escort tunnel will give him

the gear selitor's got all caught up so he said f**kit and cut the bit right out of the way on the p/s of the tunnel,he's fitting a externail 3 rail box,as he think's this will work well has he as fond memorie's of capri's poping 90mph in 3rd on these box's

all you need to do for that is cut out the bit with the gearstick hole and turn it round and weld it back in

have you got any pics of what he has done? all i did on the java one was to open the tunnel a bit more with a scissor jack and turn the gearstick cut out round to fit a 5 speed. on the 4 door it has no tunnel mods at all as its running a xflow box on the pinto

yeh he has pic's but int uploaded them,he could'nt do it that way,because the seliotr's were fowling the tunnel,were the old box used to bolt up,but he said he as plenty of room to get to the speedo cable now,it's nearly all droped in to place the sump which he still has to sort

normally have to space the box down slightly

not on this one you dont he's got it sorted good job he can weld the engine and box will sit nice and level,he should mod the sump this week,so should be up and running next week
