Admin Vista Posted November 24, 2007 Admin Report Posted November 24, 2007 Anyone know where I can get one of the elusive large CC AX block crossflows from ? They're kept in a special storeroom with the Unicorns and the unobtanium Sorry mate I don't, I've never seen one come up for sale either, certainly not in regular circles.
Toby Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 Anyone know where I can get one of the elusive large CC AX block crossflows from ? Been looking for ages for a decent block, these engines are shrouded in myth and can be taken up to 2.0 and even 2.2, they were made in South Africa for motorsport applications but rarely turn up for sale. Its my intention to stick one in my Mex and give the Pintos a run for their money. It aint gonna be cheap I know but it'll be worth it if I can get 200 + out of an old Crossflow ! I have a mate with one but he paid lots of money for it having looked for ages for one. We have had a little measure up and from memory it would only take about an 86mm bore tops!! With a standard crank thats only about 1800cc. 2.2 I'll be suprised! Even at 87mm it would only be 1845cc So with an 87mm bore and an 82mm stroker crank (which I have "heard" to be possible) you would have 1950cc 87 x 84 which may be problematic for both gives you 1997cc It is a great plan IMO but 2.2 may be hard to find. How about a nice 3k ally block from Burton they'll take a huge bore and a massive lump out of your wallet!! AX blocks do appear in the CF and Retro mags sometimes, have you tried Motoring news? Oh and to answer the original post question with a question Whats it going in?

Guest Mexicandave Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 Gonna give Wilcox race engines a call tomorrow as I've just seen that they mention a 2.2 Crossflow on their site, its going to be stupid money I know but they may be able to give me some more info on what and where to look out for.
