When my Escort was on the road it was good for pissing off Porch Coxster owners at the lights, and Civic type-r whassamajigs, etc Although they were probably laughing as much as me watching me freeze my ass off in a stripped out Escort with no heating and ice on the inside of the windscreen! as an erst while scoob and evo owner i am uniquely positioned to add some more to this debate.

 

i have to say the evo 5 i had was very nicely tuned to 350bhp and went like an absolute rocket. easily the most tractable car i have ever owned. however the speed becomes aneathitised due to the other-worldly handling. tbh you found yourself driving it too quick for the public roads.

 

i now have a 200sx as my day car and its more fun than the evo and plenty quick.

 

i cant comment on BIG power escorts, but i can imagine how they would compare to the likes of the evo and impreza, given the experience i have had with tuned pinto/x-flow engined examples.
