Hi there, i own a mk2 cortina 1600 super of 1970 vintage. I'd like to swap the engine for a 2ltr pinto will this go strait onto my original gearbox ? what other mods will i need to do as ive been told the engine should bolt onto the original mounts? Oh and i now i need to modify the sump !!

Thanks and keep up the good work . :D

Not sure on the mounts, you'll need a different sump, and the steering gear will foul the exhaust manifold so you'll have to make a manifold or convert to rack and pinion steering :(

The engine will deffo bolt up on the original mounts, you may have to mod the heater bulge to clear the cam cover, you can get a sump that is correct for the job but its rare in this country, american 2 litre pinto, not 2.3, I cant remember when i last saw one, it will be quicker to build a new sump .

If you still have a steering box you will have a nice job of getting the exhaust to fit around the box :D:D:D

Saw a mk2 tina with a pinto and steering box at billing this year...the exhaust manifold was a mass of welded pipes at odd angles and looked very restrictive :?
