HI Guys,

in school at the moment we are doing projects on the careers of the provetions we may wish to take up in later life. so i chose the motorsport enigineer. for this project it would be a great help if i knew how much a person qualified in the part of engineering would earn and i thought maybe you would be ably to help me.

Cheers Steve

to be honest with you it will totaly depend on were you are in the country/world who you are working for and how good you are are your job i'm a fully quilifed engineer with more paper work than you can shake a stick at but i only earn 20k a year in devon but i could in a few years time and somewere else be earning double that, i would say expect to earn £15000-£25000 hope this helps you

I have a friend that has completed his degree in motorsport engineering and he just cannot get a job. :( It really depends on where bouts you are in the country though. We are south coast and the majority of motrsport type job oportunities are oop North.

I did engineering at uni n a few of my mates did motor sport, its a hard game to get into and a long slog to get money. I have got one mate that works at lola though, a few others at ford, jag, landrover n i guess there earning well. I did mechanical engineering didn't really know what to go into or how to go about it. Worked as a bike mechanic for a few years at pizza hut, then started looking around now i work as a rides engineer at thorpe park which is great  + its nearly 30k a year

Would say if your gonna do engineering n you wanna go into motorsport you gotta do formula student making sure you get all your paperwork analisis, n desgin stuff done well along with building the car and racing it. Was fun to do even if it was hard work but loads of people ask about it when they see it on your CV.

ill agree with toad, im doing a motorsport degree in Huddersfield. they dont usually let 2nd years work with the car but because i have experience with single seaters and cars in general ive managed to get myself something for it

the other thing is if you go to uni do a sandwich course as the 3rd year is spent working as an engineer you get paid and its experience which is what people want when you enter the real world
