mystery pinto cam

Hi just bought a spare 205 blocked pinto, it has a cam fitted but is not ford stamped.

It has MADE IN THE USA stamped on it-were the standard ones???

I also noted the numbers on it: EP26

also: fmtrw

the chap i bought it off of didnt know much about it but said it felt a bit more pokey than standard, any one shed any light on it????

could it maybe out of an american 2.3 or 2.4 pinto?? though i would guess that they would have "FORD" on them...not too sure

searched ep 26 and found this on another forum ( bortaf on capri power )

 

EP26 is indeed the standard 2.0 cam mark (late sierra carb and EFi)

BUT it could well have been reground to RL32 spec (they don't allways start from a blank cam), the marks are usually on the rear end of the cam on the flat face you know the bit you can't see once the head is on

The "Pinto" 2.3 engine is not a real pinto, its much physically larger, It aquired the name because it was fitted to the Ford Pinto, along with the 2l pinto which is the same as we all know and love, the 2.3 along with most US ford engines is named after its engine plant, and is actually known as a LIMA so I assume its a ford engine plant in PERU, Now Im wondering where did Paddington Bear come from

The lima is longer than the UK pinto so a cam wouldn't fit anyhoo and it has 4 cam posts not 3 like the UK engine so it's well different
