DO NOT GET A 60 GIG ONE!!!!!! they were only done for the uk market and have now been discontinued so you can only find them recon or secondhand. yes you can play older games etc but will you still be able to get spairs in a few years time for them? if you have loads of ps2 games whats the harm in playing them on your ps2? is there any real point to spending out extra for a discontinues machine just to play old games?

I did look very briefly at the sixty gig option but there really is no point, firstly you can change the hard drive to any size laptop hard drive ie 120gb without even voiding the warranty! sony have actually let you do this! i didnt get a ps3 to play ps2 games its all about the next gen and the only other diffrences are 2 more usb ports and a card reader ( ill just get a usb hub if i really want ) i know that all sounded abit gumbly but they did try and charge peaople about a ton more for that stuff As for which one is better im not sure yet ive had the 360 alot longer so thats what i know better, but i think the ps3 is sharper or maybe its just the hdmi cable? lets just say they both rock for now. Enough of my geek rambling oh my ps3 online name is mk1maher
Durham Fiesta Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 i've got a xbox360 and i really like it. My gf just got a free ps3 when she signed up to her new broadband, i thought there was gonna be some catch but it turned up the other day with a free game. Only played assassins creed on it but it seems pretty smart
Trevmk3 Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 my brothers got a PS3, im waiting to get some cash before i can get one, the 60 gig one has got better detail work on the front surroundings than the 40 gig ones other than that theres not alot of difference . i think that sony will re-release the 60 gig one when the sales of the 40 have increased and the price has lowered. i would personally have a PS3 over the 360 simply because im a playstation person, and that if the circle of death appered on my xbox i would take it back to the shop and demand a PS3. also xbox 360's had a tendancy to set fire to everything you own when they were launched, havent heard of any playstation setting on fire to date
Muttley MK2 Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Is there any truth in the rumour u need a hd telly to use these machines?
32 HI-BOY Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Is there any truth in the rumour u need a hd telly to use these machines? yes dad you need a hd telly to play a ps3
geoffersmasher Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 really? cause it comes with one of those shitty things to connect it to your scart. and you cant put hi def through that, so im guessing you can play it on a normal telly. wouldnt have thought they would have shot themselfs in the foot like that
caprifan Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 you can use both consoles on a shitty CRT TV (not HD) as I have both and use both on my old shit TV......you obviously won't get HD picture quality but they can be used. I love the interface of the 360...everything just works together so well...like playing your own music in game and being able to jump to your home menu during games.....the biggest downer I have with the 360 is the noise.....my god its like a jumbo taking off in my living room... the PS3 in comparison is quiet as feck...lurrvly.....you can't go to the menu without quitting the game which is a pain in the arse and can't play my own music in game

geoffersmasher Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 Its all about the 360 mate cod 4 rules this is on ps3 too in my opinion looks alot better on ps3

I'd ask in Currys or a Game shop but i'd rather look a fool infront of friends than some jumped up twat at Dixons

I'd ask in Currys or a Game shop but i'd rather look a fool infront of friends than some jumped up twat at Dixons the 60gig version will play 'most' PS2 games whereas the smaller one won't. Get one mate - they're wicked. As for memory cards, no they don't but the 60gig is used to store much more that just game saves. You can download free games etc & movie trailers & the best bit is if you turn it off, then it will start the remainder of the download where you left off. Most are free too!
