Muggy Bonehead Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 Sorry for the high level of spazziness in this question but im not too engineeringly/mechanicaly minded. I recently bought Slot mags for my Cortina but ive only ever put ford wheels onto ford cars before so rather naively expected the nuts I have for use with ford Alloys would do the job; but as you can see the entire nut sits proud of the surface Im guessing the original nuts that hold the steels on are a no-no as they are flat and would just chew away at the wheels as they turn. Im at a total loss so if anyone who has slots fitted to their Cortina could send me a pic of a wheelnut or let me know where they got theirs that'd be great. The car is a 1982 cortina 2.0 estate The wheels are Wolfrace slotmags. on the face are the details (5.50 x 13 x 50 IN) and (D) (83) Thanks.
V8ian Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 Give this lot a ring, They will know what nuts you will need. I am fairly certain you will need metric sleeve nuts with flat washers. they keep lots of nuts and washers on the shelf, Speak to Steve if he is available and I am sure they can help. http://www.speedshack.co.uk/ Ian
FlashCadillac Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 as the origninal wheels are steel just like the studs then the old type wheel nut can be used as slotmags are alloys then the steel studs would just gouge through the alloy over time therefore sleeved wheelnuts are needed which thread down the hole in the wheel and totally protect the wheel from the thread on the stud speedshack are the best people to phone.... make sure they are what you say and wolfrace slot mags and cobra supa slots look very similar but use a different washer.... i think appliance also made a supa slot but they use the same washer as the cobra wheel the two different types of wheel but are shown below
Muggy Bonehead Posted January 2, 2008 Author Report Posted January 2, 2008 Brilliant, i'll get on the phone to them tomorrow. Thanks for the help guys
