mrcheese Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 thanks everybody for your kind words, its really nice of you! i enjoy looking at this site at all of your motors and theres some real jaw droppers and nice modified stuff and its especially good to see the daily drivers keepin the dream alive! i first saw this mk1 in 1990, a friend had it in his lock up, i bought it from him not long after (£250) . it was a purple 1300e and i believe a rare one as it was sent to the avo factory when new to be finished off (it was one of the first few hundred and is plated as a "special campaign sport" as the 1300e name had not then been given) long story short i had lots of escorts in those early days and always seemed to hang on to this one. in about '93 i did my best at a restoration and it did look good for a few years then i parked it up and got into american stuff. 7 years later she was real rough so a freind bought it did a load of welding, his missis used it for 2 years then i bought it back, put a 1600 in, abused it, got bored and set about fitting the v8. that took 3 years off and on because of other toys (pinto'ed 100e, corvette, wife and house) got her on the road in march last year, was about to start thinking about cams, and paint etc.. then crashed on the motorway in july! (hit a barrier) but will be out and about soon as i now only need a prop building to finish hope this wasn't too boring! p.s if anyone thinks this car looks grotty you should see my multi coloured 4dr mk1 escort i use every day, cheers
V8ian Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Nothing wrong with too much info, I do like a V8!!!!!!!!!
sierra1off Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 Neat installation, looks simple but only cos its done well. People dont realise all the problems you have to overcome putting a non standard engine in a car. p.s. dont paint it
mk14dr Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 Sweet car mate a mk1 with a v8 must be a handfull to say the very least thanks everybody for your kind words, ... stuff ... p.s if anyone thinks this car looks grotty you should see my multi coloured 4dr mk1 escort i use every day, cheers D
mrcheese Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 O.k folks heres some pics of my 4dr when i bought it about october i think. I saw it parked up outside some flats in Dudley, left a note on the window and got it for £300, so its always worth enquiring about stuff and being a bit cheeky though i must say it was/ and still is in places pretty rotten And here it is now. I put some wheels and tyres i had kicking about and have replaced the front panel, strut tops, and put on some glass wings from old ford auto's which are very good! I'm really enjoying using the old beaut everyday and is so far 100% reliable Also the v8 is back on the road at last! took it for a blast to Wales then had a cup of tea with the missis in Ludlow on the way back and left it parked at the market Thanks for the interest guys, and a BIG thanks to Hux for showing me how to put pictures on the site = top bloke
mrcheese Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 I think i just stuffed that up! Try again....... thats when i got it in october last year this is how it looks now! Also heres the v8 in Wales and here she is in Ludow market Thanks to top bloke the Huxster for sorting me out with computer knowledge
