john_3.0s Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 afraid so mate, but the legislation only affects those of us who are law abiding and need to get plates for an mot failure or whatever from a legal source. Less-scrupulous companies sell “not for road use” number plates and you can always buy all the gear yourself and make your own up with out having to worry the DVLA with silly bits of paper. Utter non-sense like most modern legislation of this nature – ill-conceived and not thought through.
d_kni004 Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 I don't think that there's a general lack of respect for the police out there. The vast majority of folks where I live have alot of respect for the police and appreciate that it can be a testing job. As for the way the officer "yanked" the lad out of the civic, I think the officer was very controlled and dealt with the situation effectively. No one was hurt. If you are dealing with a suspected car thief you need to take control of the situation before any one else takes control of it for you, especially when you're right next to a motorway. I don't know why people give it large on camera when being dealt with by the police, there's only ever one winner and its always the police. I find it interesting when people give out the impression that they are more than they are. You often find that the quieter and the more respectful that people are, then the more important and more succesful they tend to be. Some little lad giving out the big "I am" is quite funny. Its the quiet ones you need to watch.
