CapperTom Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Hi, was just wondering if i run my 2.0 pinto on normal unleaded with no additive. Its just been stripped and cleaned but couldnt afford too have seats done Its got cam, 40 carbs exhaust etc. Its only used a lil bit driving round town and occasional blast. Also what do you all think of them fuelcats? any experience? Cheers in advance
mossy Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 im running my crossflow on unleaded...Never missed a beat on a 160mile jurney home.
bortaf Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Absolute load of shite mate. but it does depend on how you drive the car and where, as to how long valve seat regression will take but it WILL happen eventually. For short round town stuff is probably the best to get the longest out of it, sustained motorway (high rev) driving will kill it quicker but TBH if you don't do high millage i'd just run it till you get problems and have an unleaded head as a backup, it could take years to give problems, it's just i do high millages with old engines. The tests i did where on a transit pinto http://cortinacentral.bravehost.com/unleadedpinto.html
V8ian Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 The Term "Snake Oil" fits the Fuel Cat, It was a con in 70s when it was introduced, and I am certain it still is!!
GT_Jim Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 dont use fuel cats a friend of mine put one on his 2 litre laser and the amount of crap that was in the fuel filter was shocking, i used to use castrol additives with an octane boost its £10 and it would last me a month doing everyday driving
