bigglesmk2 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 ...Is it worth it? Been looking at lease/hire of a car for say 12month's instead of dragging banger's thru thier mot each year and the odd repair throughout the year.Just to get piece of mind im in a new car that i can drive to death and then give back. Any one done this is it worth it blah blah blah Dont worry i'll still be keeping my OSF for fun
Mr Sam Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 think my cousin does this has a new shape civic diesel he owns in his name for such and such a month but then has to pay his fuel bills, its through work still when you add it all up it isnt that great a deal and tbh id rather have an old banger work out far shepaer and alot more fun, but like you say piece of mind especially with kids
mossy Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 a mate does this... rents a vauxhall astra...pays £200 a month for it and after three years he can pay a lump sum and keep the car or they swap it for a brand new on and the £200 keeps coming out. If your gonna spend that money.... Get a loan and get a decent car, will have cheaper repayments! Thats what i did! Got a £3.5k loan out over 3years, £110 a month repayments...Paid outright for a 2002 car and its mine with no hassles and cheaper payments.
4parajon Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Ive been doing this for the last 4 years. There's some good deals about if your not fussy on what you drive. My first leased car was the new Scenic when it had just come out, it was only £150 a month including the VAT. Just be carefull with the mileage though as if you go over the limit without it being agreed up front they can sting you as its based on pence per mile. The other thing to consider is whether you can do it through your/a business as its more expensive to do it through a "personal". I get flyers through on the fax once a week at least. The last one was offering the new Honda Civic Type R for £220 a month, good value IMO.
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 I lease my Astra SRi though my business. I had a Celica for the previous two years. I pay £150 (plus vat) per month for 24 months, but there is a lump sum deposit (usually three months) at the start. It doesn't include servicing, but does include tax. I'm limited to 10,000 miles per year. If you go over the limit, you ring them up and tell them, and they'll renegotiate the deal. If you don't tell them, that's when they sting you for going over.
bmxdave Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 The personal loan way is far better in my opinion. Work out how much youd be willing to pay a month for the lease and then how long youd want. £200 a month for 3 years adds up and would have you a smart car. That way when its finished you actually own the car and if you wish to upgrade you have a deposit in the form of a car. If you actually keep the car for a while, the longer you keep it the less it costs overall and you get your worth out of it.
bigglesmk2 Posted January 26, 2008 Author Report Posted January 26, 2008 Cheer's guy's Dont think i'll bother then
